  • Even though I can't make it today, I like Cam's idea! $240 GBH monthly challenge plus an automatic $100 rebuy before the hand first hand is dealt and a $200 add-on after the first 3 blind levels. This totals to $540, the average first place prize is about $25k -$30k and the tourney lasts from 9am - 7pm with 20 min breaks in between 3 levels and free food.

Just my 2 cents worth and in the event you will be hosting again shortly.

  • Hi Buddy, give me a call about tonight. Check your inbox. The $240 tournament at GBH sounds like an idea.
  • Sorry Buddy, I just got home from work. If the BCC Tourney is sold out I'm going to bail. I'll save my money to play in Caesars Indiana in Feb. I am still open to future events tho.

    Thanks.

  • If the players want tonight to be a satellite to the ~$540 GBH Poker Challenge, then it sounds like a fine idea. Forum members such as IM-ON-TILT, Dead Money and Animaux have made it to the money at this tournament, which has a bigger prize pool than BCC's $540 tournament. A $30,000 win can mean that the participants share over $5,000. :)

The next GBH tournament is on January 10, 2007. The following tournament on February 14 is considered to be a Canadian Poker Tour Major event.

  • Buddy I just wanted to thank you and everyone that was able to make it out it was a blast even though I never won a single game. It was fun playing 20 sitngoes till 5:45 AM. I want to also thank Yama for opening his place and providing us with great subs from quiznos. Maybe we can get somthing set up for the knew year sometime to get a league/satelite for the WPT in the fall for the $1000, $2000 or high set up for maybe $20-$25 a week this would be great.

  • ya, thanks Buddy, it was a great time. Too bad the first SnG took so long as I would have stuck around a little longer with 20 by the end of the night. Who was the big winner? Well at least I broke even which is not a bad thing. Let me know when you plan to host your next event and thank Yama for his hospitality! Have a good holiday everyone.

  • You're welcome. The big winner was forum member Animaux. Merry Christmas to everyone!

The next rake-free satellite will be organized whenever enough people express an interest for any upcoming tournament, e.g.,
    - Great Blue Heron Casino's $240+ rebuy tournaments on January 10 & February 14.
    - Brantford Casino's $1,625 tournament on January 24-27
    - Point Edward Casino's $225-$550+ rebuy tournaments on March 6-11.
    - Fallsview Casino's $500 or $1,000 SNG.

I agree that having a league that leads to a WPT seat is a great idea, but I think it will take awhile to find enough interested members.

I'm definitely interested in participating in the next one of these!!!
  • Which tournament are you most interested in? I know a couple of people who are willing to host satellites in Mississauga, but the problem has been finding enough interested players that are not broke and will actually show up.

  • Hey Buddy,

how about setting up a regular weekly league where you can have satellites for those monthly tournaments mentioned above, sng's, points system, etc. etc. It would be like a poker team where everyone gets a share but of course the actual winner gets the big chunk (lets say 75-80%) I'd be interested especially in the mississauga area.
  • I am hoping that one of the established home-game operators or clubs would set up such a league, because it can start much sooner than a brand new league.

As for the satellites at Brantford Charity Casino, they are getting more and more busy. After not being able to play the MTT on my first three visits to BCC for three different reasons, :rage: I finally got to play on my fourth visit when I got the 50th and final seat at 9 AM. I ended up as the chip leader on the final table and won the seat worth $1,625! :wav: When only the seat winners were left, everybody went all-in then mucked their hands to me in order to officially end the multi-qualifier satellite.

I think all sorts of records at BCC were broken at that MTT, including the highest prize pool, the most rebuys by one table and person, and possibly the longest satellite. They actually ran out of the black $100 chips early because of the record number of rebuys! It was almost 3 PM before it got down to five players. The top nine players got paid. In contrast, another day's MTT only paid five players.

  • Congratulations! the streak continues!
  • Congrats Buddy!
