$550 Satellite to BCC Tournament

Several forum members expressed interest in playing in a rake-free satellite for Brantford Charity Casino's tournament, so here are the details.

Date: Friday, December 22
Time: 6 PM
Where: Mississauga
Number: Minimum of 8 players and maximum of 20

The winner gets to play in BCC's $500 + $50 tournament on Monday, January 22, 2007. BCC's registration fee is $50, or $40 if you first apply for their free Winners Circle membership.

Anything left in the prize pool goes to second place. For example, if there are the maximum 20 players, the buy-in will only be $30 each, with second place winning $50. If only eight players show up, the buy-in will be $75 each, with second place winning $50.

The participants get a maximum total of 20% stake in the winner in the event that he/she makes it to the money at BCC with a $50,000 prize pool. To keep things simple, if there are 11-19 other players, each gets a 1% share; with 7-10 players, each get a 2% share.

The tournament structure will be similar to BCC, e.g., same starting stack of 5,000 chips and slow blind schedule. It will be 20-minute blinds for the first four levels. In order for this home game to finish in less than four hours, blinds will go up every 15 minutes or less after the fourth level. Double decks and dealers will be used, in which the small blind (or eliminated players) pre-shuffles the second deck in order to get more hands per level. Unlike BCC's crapshoot satellites with a Skill Level of only 1, the Skill Level for this satellite is 4!

Blind schedule:
1) 25-25 (20 minutes)
2) 25-50
3) 50-100
4) 75-150
5) 100-200 + 25 ante (15-minute levels start)
6) 200-400 + 25
7) 300-600 + 50
8 ) 400-800 + 50
9) 600-1200 + 75
10) 800-1600 + 75
11) 1000-2000 + 100
12) 1500-3000 + 100
13) 2000-4000 + 200
14) 3000-6000 + 300
15) 4000-8000 + 400.

The host prefers to have players that he knows. If you have played with me before (e.g., Royal Cup, West Side P.C., K-W or Pirana Poker Tour), then I will probably be able to vouch for you. The host does not allow alcohol. You may smoke outside.

Upon final table, the other table will be used for a $50 tournament. The blind structure will be the same as will be used at the 2007 WPT and Fallsview tournaments. Blind levels will be 15 minutes long for at least the first four levels. First place gets 50% of the prize pool, second gets 30%, and third gets the remaining 20%.

  • This sounds like a great setup, Blondefish...unfortunately, the date is no good for me personally. That, and I don't think I qualify as someone you played before, at least not that I remember anyway.

If you have another one of these say AFTER the holidays, though, I would be interested in participating.
  • Buddy,

I'm sure Brent, Cam and I would be interested in this...can you vouche?
  • sign me up; pm me the directions please.
  • Where would this game be located???

    Theres your answer.
  • AJ, I had the pleasure of playing poker with you at the captains' table at Royal Cup II, so I would have no problem vouching for you, along with haddon, The Prophet 22, Blazing72, Kristy Sea, etc.

The previous satellite to the $1,100 Casino Rama Fall Classic went very well, so hopefully, there will be a lot more rake-free games to come, including satellites to the WPT and Fallsview tournaments.

  • I was thinking of doing the same thing in the K-W AREA over the holidays, but I might come out to yours as well
  • Greg, what does S.M.R.T. mean? ???
By the way, congratulations on your Wild Card win at Bristol Street last night.

The reserved list has been updated with Kristy Sea and Shopsy2, so the twenty spots may be filled up soon.

  • It looks like we will reach the maximum number of registrants. In order to avoid empty seats due to cancellations or no-shows :( that will increase the buy-in, there will be a waiting list.
  • Put me on the list please!
  • I can vouch for I'm On Tilt he has played at our tourneys for over 2 years.

    Blazin 72

  • Is he that *&^%$#@! shark that kept going all-in against me at West Side? ;)
    OK, he's in!

  • I'm confirmed and I can be there b4 6pm as I am off that day. Probably do some last minute shopping before hand to avoid traffic. Please PM directions. Cheers.
  • hey Buddy,

what time is it starting? (7pm?) if so, pm directions please.
  • Hey Romer Give me a call maybe.

    Cameron
  • What is the start time and yes confirm me.
  • The host wants players to show up at 6 PM. Is there anybody else besides IM-ON-TILT that cannot make it for 6 PM? Can The Prophet 22 and Shopsy2 please confirm if they are coming? Players who arrive too late for the satellite can still play in the second game when it is down to final table.

I will PM the directions to the confirmed players by tomorrow.

  • Actually count me out, I don't want to inconvenience the players especially the host. Go ahead and start at 6pm.

    Thanks anyway.
  • The PM has been sent to the forum members who confirmed. If I missed anybody, please let me know.

All the BCC tournaments start at 6 PM, with 10% getting paid. Note that BCC is no longer selling seats to their $1,065 tournament. The $550 seats will probably sell out soon, so my suggestion is that Friday's winner order the seat by phone right after our satellite.

If the players want, the second game can be another satellite, i.e., for the $1,625 or $550 BCC tournament.
  • Hey Blondefish
Thought I'd pass along a headsup. I was at Brantford last night. The $500 sold out yesterday. There are still seats for the $1000, but they can only be won through Brantford satellites...none for sale.
  • so are we still going to play for the $550 seat and hope that we can find someone that wants to sell theirs (that they win in a satellite, etc.)?

    The $500 sold out yesterday.

Thanks for the info. pokerJAH, here are a couple of options for the participants on Friday night:

    1) Have the satellite for the $1,625 BCC tournament. For example, if there are 16 players, the buy-in will be $110 each, with the winner getting the seat and the remaining $135 going to second place.

    2) The winner gets to pick another ~$500 tournament that they will use the prize to buy in for, e.g., Great Blue Heron Poker Challenge, $550 monthly tournament at Casino Windsor, $500 SNG at Fallsview Casino, or club tournament.
  • Hey Buddy if it is sold out why not just have a Tourny for the night or something like that. I don't know if it is fair to the person who won to give the money back to you to give to the second place finisher.

    Cameron
  • brent, kristy and myself are out.

    no seat...whats the point.
  • Hy Buddy what about doing it for this.

Entry fee for all Great Blue Heron Poker Challenge events shall be $200 + $40.

All players may either register in person at the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino and present valid government issued photo identification
(Ontario Health Card is NOT an allowable form of identification for this purpose) only those players using a valid credit card may register by telephone at 1-888-29 HERON Ext.263. All players registering must present valid government issued photo identification (Ontario Health Card is NOT an allowable form of identification) at the registration desk on the day of the event.

Time: Time: 9:00am start (formerly 10:00am) with Player Registration starting at 8:30am.

Entry: GBH Poker Challenge events $200.00 + $40.00 with unlimited $100.00 rebuys in the first hour and a $200.00 add-on after the end of the first hour.

Limits: The Tournament shall be No Limit with Blind Structure posted in the Poker Pit.

Prize Pool: The Prize Pool varies with the amount of entrants and the amount of rebuys and add-ons. First prize is 45% of Prize Pool, full breakdown of Prize Pool is posted in the Poker Pit.
Space is limited, and on a first come, first served basis.
  • The host is very flexible with whatever the players want. Just like the previous rake-free satellite held, the host has decided to provide free snacks and drinks again. Everybody had a great time last time and I look forward to another fun night of poker tonight.
  • I hope it goes well!
I think I speak for all of us in saying sorry for bailing...it just seems a little sketch to play for something that will happen someday...you know? haha. Anyway, I know it is a risk but buying the seat ahead of time might be an idea...especially if the host or yourself are going to play in it anyway.

(I know I have no idea what I'm talking about and there could be a chance that the ticket is non-transferable or something...but still...just thought I'd say it.)
