how to play this.

1/2 nl

the sb is a very very very loose player and calls and raises with anything in his hand. he is willing to chase down 2 runners on the turn and river to make his hand and will call the raise for them.

The BB was Semi tight all night. folded mostly but was getting frustrated that she was getting no cards in her hand for the past Hour. My read was that she was slowly going on tilt.

myself i played both lose and tight at the same time. i would call with connecters and rag cards which i would normally fold to give my opponents a read that i am generaly a lose player and am willing to play with anything. of i would not invest more the 3x the BB for these rags.

so here it is guys

Button (me) $205 in the back
SB $110 in the back
BB $ 140 in the back

Hand is Dealt

starting from the left of the BB
player 1 fold
player 2 fold
player 3 fold
player 4 call
player 5 call
Dealt As Ah raise to $10
sb calls
BB re-raise to $20
player 4 folds
player 5 folds
Button (me) to $50
SB calls
BB calls
pot=$154

Flop Jc 7c 10c

button me Raise $60
Sb folds
BB calls All-In
Show cards BB has Qh 10c middle pair and flush draw

outcome will be told later in the day after some input.

Whew, glad you clarified and were not playing crazy newfie hold'em where we start the betting with the cousin of the person sitting 4 to the right of the dealers wife?

I'm more a limit player but let me see, top pair and a draw to the nut flush, easy call in my opinion? But I'll guess that a Q or T came for the suckout or better yet a red 9 and a red K came giving her the str8?

Damn right! As for the hand I don't see what the problem is (other then the inevitable suckout).
  • poket aces but 3 clubs showing and i dont have 1
  • Any club wins just over 30% of the time, and they could also have 2 pair or a set to beat you. This should be an easy fold barring a great read. However, you made the initial flop raise, so now you're only facing a $30 call into a $300 pot. These odds are good enough to call even on the chance they are bluffing, let alone if they are still on a draw. If they have you beat, you already put enough chips in that it's too late to get away from the hand given the stack sizes.

Other than the fact the 10c is in a hand and on the board :)
With the min reraise I'm probably pushing all in given the read on your opponents.

Once the flop hits, you gotta call and take your lumps.

    That's one crazy deck!

Seriously, was the Queen the club?

Assuming that, as Beanie said, the odds for you to call are pretty good for $30. I'm waiting for the suckout.

    Remember, it's Newfie Holdem...anything's possible.

Also, in your original post you had yourself with the Ac making it a no brainer call but I see the post has been edited and now you do not have a draw to the nut flush but you still have odds????
  • You were in late position with 2 A's...Even if you were under the gun I think you should of raised WAY higher before the flop eliminating any chance of those chasing the flush or straight. I believe you said $10 raise. I probably would of raised $50 or all-in to get the others to fold since so many of the other players had already folded. Just my thoughts as you seemed to have bet so little in this no-limit game with a monster pre-flop. If you were in early position I could somewhat understand your bet or if it was a limit game. Just my thoughts.....:-); not criticizing.
  • I was thinking along the lines or redstar here... to a degree...

I think the $10 is a little shy for these type of games, last one I played in, $15 was the min to get rid of anyone. When you got reraised, I think the $50 was too little, I would put a bet in a little over the size of the pot.. I think my calculations showed the pot-size to be $46 at that point, but if I want someone to have to call it, and they've already put in $20, I would have likely made it $70, forcing them to call another $50.

I think a $50 right off the bat is too much - you do want to get paid off with aces. Of course, all this is read dependant - if the BB is one of those "Dammit, I raised, so I'm Married" kinda guys, may as well push it all. If I feel I can make them think I'm just trying to steal, I raise more, if I know they'll fold, then a little less to entice... but I would have gone

    (BB + SB + two limpers = $7)
    Raise - $15
(sb call / BB raises to say 30, pot = $64)
    Re-raise - (with my call of $15 more pot = 79 so) 90

This puts both the other players effectively all in. In face, I may just push them both all in at that point, and then the rest of your decisions are easy ones.
