Looking for advice on LIMIT holdem tournaments
Hi all
I will be playing a live limit tourney in two weeks and would like to hear from everyone their thoughts on strategies.
The buy-in is 300 but I don't know the exact blind structure for the tourney.
How tight should I play? When does bluffing become an effective tool?
Stuff like that
Thanks for any insights you may have

Just remember, most limit players will see it RIGHT the end with garbage, hoping to catch. Wait for good hands and then pop it up as fast as you can.
In the WSOP this year when I played the limit event I pretty much played position and jammed the pot when I had the best hand, and hope that it holds up. Which eventually led me to get busted out when I flopped 2 pair and got rivered by a higher two pair.
After about 3 levels position comes to play a key in this game also chip stack. You will find people starting to call to the river or starting to raise with A-rag...so be aware and try not to get involved in too many multiway pots early on. Devo has some great posts in the WSOP section about the limit tourney strategy which helped me a lot this year at the WSOP
2/ use position to steal
3/ don't feel compelled to defend your bb with crap all the time
4/ implied odds mean a lot more in nl. not so much in limit
5/ treat your chips like gold. once they are gone it takes a while to get them back.
- don't get creative and check to reraise. You miss bets and give free cards this way.
- pay more attention to offered odds vs. implied odds.
- bluffing doesn't work as well, espc. in multiway pots.
