Well you obviously didn't read the thread cause it was 4 all ins that had you covered, and I wasn't arguing with pot odds, I was simply saying if your game plan is to only get your money in the midle with the odds in your favour to win the hand, than you'd be laying that one down.
You do have the odds in our favour to win... you are the most likely to win the hand. You don't have to be more than 50% favourite to have the odds in your favour.
Laying AA down pre-flop is nuts. Unless you know the outcome ahead of time and this isn't possible. You are the favourite to win, yeah sometimes you'll lose but shit happens.
Imagine there's 4 people all in, and we're 2 away from making the money. If you fold, you're like 90% likely to cash. This would be a good time to fold AA pre-flop IF YOU WANT TO JUST HIT THE MONEY.
HOWEVER
The argument coming back is the standard "You should be willing to put your money in when you're ahead, you have to play to win". If you want to WIN the tourney, then you put your $ in with AA pre-flop 100% of the time.
Personally, If I have AA in the BB of the first hand of a tourney, and EVERYONE ahead of me goes all in... I"m comin for the ride.

Hahah nice ask me the same thing, when i'm the one who started this "laying down aces preflop in a tourny"
Ya G2 that's what I meant, I just wasnt sure what I would say to get that across, odds in your favour, shoulda just repeated my over50%
Play em fast and hard and you shouldnt ever have to lay em down.
You can also lay em down in MTT with something like 4+ all ins before you, and say 2 or more have you covered. You're Aces aren't gonna be that strong with so many hands going up against em.
I guess I didn't miss out on any worthwhile strategy debates while I was gone. Fold AA pre-flop in a non-satellite situation? This post wins the "Worst Advice While I Was Away" Award.
Not that this is a conclusive example but I was in a situation that was similar in some ways.
I'm in a tournament, 8 players left. Top 3 pay out, and I am on the button. Under the gun raises the big blind by 5 times. First player folds, next player goes all in, the following player re-raises all in, next folds, next player goes all in. I look down at my cards..AA. I hesitate for a moment and then go all in (chip counts are all close to the same). The small blind folds (pocket 2's) big blind folds and the intial raiser calls all in. The hands were as follows UTG 99, JJ, QQ, KK and me AA. Everybody misses (except the 2's that folded pre-flop), AA takes down a monster. For this reason, I think a call with AA is usually a good idea. You are probably going up against strong hands that will need to improve a lot against AA. My concern would be if I am facing a lot of drawing hands like JQ or 87 that could hit two pair, straight or flush. All in's however normall indicate pockets or AK, AQ. In these cases, AA would be pretty good hand to play with
Johnny
LOL You people are too funny. I enjoy how you've missed the point enirely.
Now Johnny do you agree that if 4 people were all in in front of you you probably wouldn't be over 50% to win?
( THAT IS ALL I'M SAYING! YES YOU ARE GETTING ODDS, YES YOU SHOULD CALL, BUT IF YOU ARE AT THE BUBBLE AND WANT TO HAVE OVER A 50% TO MAKE THE MONEY THEN YES YOU CAN FOLD AND IT'S NOT A COMPLETELY TERRIBLE FOLD!)
Even as a member of the weak passive Rocks, (sorry g2, I'm not including you in that description), I would never fold AA even if it was the first hand of a tourney and all other 9 players at the table ahead of me were all in. I well realize that I am less than 50% to win but am the player who is most likely to win and double quintuple up. LOL, not sure what 10x is but double quintuple is all I could come up with. Perhaps the only way I could fold Aces in a tournament is if moving one spot got me the same prize as all of the others above me.. ie 5 left and top 4 get same seats in a future tournament and the other 4 are all in or something similar. Can't imagine it ever happening but yeh it could.

Damn tunnel vision. All I can see is wanting to win a tournament and not just coast and play like a donk.
