Woodbine poker room trip report

The room has alot of potential. When they start running tournaments I really think it will pump alot of new blood into the poker economy.

The current limits are:

1/3 buy-in $60 to 300
2/5 buy-in $300 to $1000
5/10 buy-in $500 to $3000

It's a bit of a cluster bang right now as they are trying to get things up and running. The brush is using an excel document to check in. There is no bad beat. Give it a month (probably 2) and it will hopefully be a great alternative to what we have right now in Ontario.

I know the rake is prohibitive but once the room is at full capacity with tournaments it should be really good.

I thought $15 rake was expensive, $20 rake on a $1-3 game seems excessive. At first glance, the carpet and walls look like a 90's bingo hall, was expecting the poker room to look a lot nicer.

The rake is pretty crazy. The 90's bingo hall reference was a deep pull. 🤣

There is no such thing as a good poker room when the rake is $20 at 1-3. They've made poker just another slow to fast drain on your money. You can't beat $20 a hand.

I’m here now. Action is good but it’s run so bad. List is 50 deep and we had an open seat for almost an hour. Called a sup over and he said he was too busy to fill it?? LOL
Dealers are very green and need to be reminded of basic rules and processes - such as moving the puck, missing big blind buttons etc

My understanding is that they will now also be charging for all drinks in the new year, including pop, tea, and coffee.

From what I understand the racetrack takes care of food and beverage and are separate from the casino/poker room.

It seems like the horse race business wants a cut from the poker room now.

What's the rake on the $2/5 and $5/10 games? Any other game offered other then NL?

What's the rake in the 2/5 and 5/10? Is there a bad beat jackpot? 300Big blinds would be a good game for people that can play deep stacked. Has anyone here played the 2/5 or 5/10 deep?

Hey welcome back Reef, haven't seen you in ages on here... I don't have any answers to your questions but I do know people have been saying they are having issues with dealer quality. Rake seems also quite high although at 5/10 probably not an issue.

Rake is 10%, max $20 across the board, to my knowledge. No free beverages of any kind.

Only NL now. PLO coming in Feb.

Logistically, it’s a shit show.
