Ok, now this is starting to add up a little better.

While I think 5.4 litres/100km (192l/3500km) is a little ambitious for your vehicle, at least this is a reasonable premise. My 2012 Kia gets 6.5 on the highway.

Also, gas prices in the US look to be around $3/g right now, or $1.05/l at current exchange rates, which brings our numbers closer still.

3500km x 6.5 l/100 = 227.5 l x $1.05/l = $240CAD

At these numbers, it would be a very reasonable investment for free hotel and meal offers, especially if you are carpooling.

NOTE:
$170USD is a far cry from $75CAD, which was the initial starting point for this discussion.

That pic looks a little "Fishy"....

However that drive..... Even a 4 hr flight for me is tough now... but a 16+ hr drive.... man that's tough. Would have to really break it up... If I had my new Hybrid and could carpool, might even consider it.

Correctomundo, at least one EV-maximizing forum member is carpooling. Four players carpooled in a Tesla last year, & may do it again next month. I flew on my first free stay in January 2022, but ended up getting #StrandedInTheUSA due to the 72-hour PCR test requirement.
