I can get free etransfers but only if I switch to the plan you are talking about (I am with TD), but then i would pay more for other stuff like my Visa First Class Travel Card which has a $120 per year fee (I get it for free) plus some other investment stuff. My odd 50 cent etransfer fee is insignificant. I think I have had this plan since prior to e-transfer even being around, think ice age... In total after I figured it out a few months ago I would pay about $300. more per year if I switched to the current "old mans" plan.

I hope you are on Plan 60. If you are on the TD Preferred Chequing account, be aware that as of Jun. 1, min balance goes from $2k to $5k and if you don't maintain the min. balance, transaction fees are going up to $1.95, making this account now the worst one offered by TD. However, they are likely coming for Plan 60 next.

Could be, we'll see. I am on a plan 60 but it is a grandfathered one from when I turned 60 a couple of years ago.. lol.. If they come after me for me for fees I will have a quick chat with my investment guy and it will be taken care of... :)
