only had 57 people today. The tournament directors did not have a clue what the heck was going on.
first big issue was the length of the blinds. I was told 30 min blinds and before the tourney started they make an announcement that although they told everyone that the blinds were 30 mins they would only be 20 mins. That is SHIT to that to people day of the tourney.
i asked the guy running the tourney what percentage of the field gets paid ? He looked at me like I had a penis growing out of my forehead (I did not) . He didn’t understand what that even meant. I then asked how many people would be paid..... he replied “well we have never paid more than 10 people so probably 9” WTF is that? Obviously this guy is not familiar with how a poker tournament operates.
next...... for the first 6 levels they never adjusted the number of players on the screen....... so the tournament info always showed the average stack at 10,000 even though 8 or 9 people had busted and re-entered.
next..... the way they collected the money at a little side podium made me very unsure if all the buy-ins would make it into the prize pool.
this is the worst run tournament in a casino that I have ever been to.
one positive was an Asian dealer named Rick..... he was amazing and had our whole table laughing while running the game perfectly. Good job Rick.
every other aspect was horrible and I will not be returning anytime soon.
i did collect one bounty today and I can say that the play was very soft. My busto hand I had 10 J spades on a 9spades Queen spades 4 hearts flop. I bet the guy re-raised I shoved and snap called with Q 10 off. He held I drove home.
Good luck to Blondefish....... maybe he will add his opinion here too.
I suspected it would be a shit show. I was there on Wednesday and they had no printed materials for the tourney, and only one Supe knew anything at all about the tournament. He used to be a dealer under the previous regime, and was not the greatest then.
Almost all the old staff is gone, and the ones who stayed are less than motivated. Rick is the diamond in the rough for sure.
The only upside is that the play is so soft it’s easy to make money. The 2/5 plays like 1/3 at Niagara. Everybody just waits for a hand and then never folds. I may try the deep stack cash game on Tuesday if I don’t have to work.
