So when it first happened I was disappointed I lost but told myself you have to win these flips to win tournaments...but now it starting to sink in that I didn't need to do this and my stack was a lot healthier than I originally thought.

I've never played a tournament like this before and don't know if I will get a chance like this again.

Looks like there were a lot of much smaller stacks then me still and at the very least I blew the next pay jump and day 3

I think you are just second guessing yourself, folding AQ for a pay jump is not something you should be thinking about with 18BB and 60 left.

I don't know but I would have likely done the same, you have 19BB (M of 7'ish) to start the hand and after SB raises to 840K there is about 1.7 million in the pot. Unless this guy is really really tight I am going for a likely flip or you may be dominating a worse A, go for the win, not to ladder up. Only 2 smaller stacks than you. If he folds, a free 4BB...

Been a big debate since it happened among my little poker home game group with a couple more people leaning towards me just calling or folding there and waiting for a better spot getting close to another pay jump.

I don't play many big tournaments and none of us have been this late into such a big one.

The experience wants to play more though on Stars

Yeah, I know.. It's just that it was my second poker tournament in two years and I really wanted to win it.

I've played several tournaments where people over value AQ. It's a good hand, but plays poorly against AK and is slightly less than 50% against any pocket pair. I would tend to call rather than jam in that situation. However, at that stage and with those stacks, jamming has become pretty standard so it's not a bad play but not one I would do. You have almost 19 bb. Personally, I'd wait until I'm under 10 BB before I'm jamming with anything less than AK or 88 and above. With a mid position raise by a guy who has me covered, I'm just calling with AQ because it's a good hand to play post flop.

Nobody's looking at it from the other side.....

TT is facing a re-raise shove of nearly 9x his raise, with an M of 7, with 5 people still left behind him. If you're looking ranges, and Macke isn't playing like a cannon, what is the lower end / beatable parts of that range? I'd likely say AQ is about the lowest hand he could re-raise push with (Say, TT+, AQ+). If I'm the villain, I'm looking at tying one unlikely hand, being slightly ahead of two next lowest hands, and being obliterated by the other 4 hands....

I think both the re-raise and the call are at the bottom ends of one another's ranges, and that makes it difficult to interpret good / bad play (fwiw, I like the AQ push far better than the TT call).
