I arrived at 12:45 due to traffic on the highway (a woman's car broke down on the side of the road and there was a tow truck so it was pretty exciting and everyone had to slow down and check it out obviously) and late registered. You have to sign up through the cage which is a little annoying, but at least you can rebuy (for the first five levels) in the poker room.
My table was great. We had people shoving/busting/rebuying like crazy. Practically all the people busting off other tables kept rebuying and coming to the open seats at my table. However, I ended up not having the greatest tournament (an understatement). I won a couple small pots before my first big hand. I was dealt 5c6c in the SB and I called a min raise and saw a 5 way flop of 7c4hJc. I ended up missing everything after raising on the flop and calling on the turned deuce.
My busto hand was boring too. All in preflop QQ<KK. Obviously the guy who just busted by 4betting AJo preflop and rebought in again had the goods this time. I was so close to folding because I had a feeling but I couldn't. I wasn't really feeling all that great so I decided to not rebuy.
There were over 146 runners when I left with like 15 minutes left for rebuys. Some regs at my table were complaining about the tournament structure saying that last Tuesday they didn't even get to final table until 9pm. For a $165 buy-in ($15 fee + $4.50 players fee (whatever that is)) it's definitely a slow structure. Players were saying it should probably be a little faster than the bigger Sunday tourney.
On my way out, I stopped at the restaurant by the main entrance (can't remember its name) and bought a reuben sandwich which was actually really good. I immediately regretted not staying for at least a little while longer for some cash games because apparently buying into the tournament only does not qualify you for free parking - fuck me - lesson learned.
