Suggestions for a $5 chip

Okay, so I went a little crazy and purchased some Paulson chips for a mixed cash game set. I couldn't resist some good deals.

So far I have $0.50 Terrible's, $1 Casino de Isthmus (my favourites!), and $25 Empress. The Empress are used but I got them as a package deal with the Terrible's at a good price. I'll probably hold onto them for now but if I see something I like more I'd consider swapping them out.

Now I need to try and decide on a $5 chip. Some of the ones I'm considering are: President Casino on the Admiral (probably my #1 choice but I've heard they are hard to find and pretty expensive), Paulson Classics, Scandia Casino (which I'm a little concerned might be too close in colour to the Terrible's), Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati, and Native Lights (also pretty expensive from what I've seen).

Any suggestions for these or other options to consider?

I swear these $5s will be the last chips I will purchase for quite a while. I promise! I mean it!

I was originally thinking Empress $5s. However, since I got the Empress $25s I didn't want to get two of the same, but I may end up swapping out those $25s possibly.

I do like the Horseshoes too. Being the cheapest option also helps since I'll probably be wanting two racks.

Just got the Terrible's and Empress chips today! They look even better in person. Empress are actually in pretty good shape - obviously used and rounded edges but no real flea bites to notice. Seller cleaned and oiled them before shipping.

So far my breakdown is 100-$0.50s, 200-$1s, and 100-$25s.

For a $0.50-$0.50 blinds $100 buy-in cash game, I'm thinking of a chip distribution of 10-$0.50s, 15-$1s, and 16-$5s ($5+$15+$80=$100). If I buy two racks of $5s, that leaves me 40-$5s left over (i.e. two more buy-ins) with additional buy-ins using $25s available.

woog30 was saying that it would be better to get 3 racks of $5s for rebuys (which would mean 140-$5s left over = $700 for seven more rebuys). although having 300 $5s on the table seems like a lot, doesn't it?

My concern with only 2 racks of 5, is you will be making change regularly for 25's and betting maybe increased quicker if you only have 25's in your stack. On typical nights for my $60 buyin night we will have close to 1500 on the table and $100 buyin nights we will have 1500 - 2500. IMO you would be introducing 25's too quickly into the game with only 2 rebuys available, Andrew and I typically would have that in play within 15 minutes, 1 rebuy each.

No because I have the empress $25s and wanted a different kind. But I kind of regret it. If they come up again I'll probably buy them and try to find another $25 chip instead. Empress $5s are pretty sweet.

Pretty hard. Crystal park $5s are your best shot. Plus I wouldn't duplicate spot patterns.

I'm not fond of the crystal parks. And I'm starting to doubt the horseshoes $5s. I don't know if the black inlay fits with the other chips.

I do think I'm going to get a rack of the aztar $25s instead and probably sell those empress $25s.

Buy them while you can and sell them later. I'm shocked he still has stock a year later. There are only around 2000 left and the price is right.

You are going to have a hard time finding someone that is only selling $5s and they will be double the price minimum. You can get 3 or 4 hundred now for the same money and live with the inlays for now.

Trigs, the condition is decent on the Cincy chips. I received a set of them tonight. I cleaned 400 5s and 100 1s and was happy with the condition. Can't beat casino Paulsons at .69 that you easily turn over when you find your ultimate chip.

How are the edges? Can they stand on edge? I want them to match with the condition of my other chips. I was considering splurging for the new horseshoes instead.
