tournament chip set?

i'm still on the lookout for a tournament chip set. i'd be very interested in hearing some suggestions from our chip experts.

currently, i'm think i want something similar to these from apache.

my preferences are:

clay or ceramic
solid colour (preferably green, black, purple, and orange)
tournament denominations on chip (preferably 25, 100, 500, 1000 or something along those lines)

anyone know anything like that or have any other suggestions?

You are talking about the grail of tournament sets. When I sold mine this summer I got over $2 US a chip and they were gone within 24 hours.

The set you linked is not a great deal unless you really want to run a tournament with $5 chips, otherwise you are buying chips you don't need.

wow, i didn't realize it would be that difficult/expensive to get a set like that. yeah, the set i linked to was just to kind of give an idea. lowest denomination i'd want is 25 probably.

moose, i'd appreciate it if you let me know if you happen to come across anything decent in your opinion. what's the poker chip site that you use again? i thought it was thechiproom.com but they seem to be shut down.

your pic is basically exactly what i want but i guess that won't happen :(

Hot stamped tournament Paulson's are very hard to find. You could get solids with no denoms or ceramics, but I have never seen solid ceramics.

I'm considering selling my tournament set, BCC Aquasino's

260 - 25's
260 - 100's (100's are very hard to find, so 60 of these are Bourbon Street)
160 - 500's
140 - 1000's
20 - 5000's (The Aquasino chips did not have a $5000 so I added a barrel of Fun Nites which are on the same BCC sun mold).

Great for a 2 table set-up with 12/12/7/5 starting stacks, which leave 20 of each of the 100's, 500's, 5000's and 40 - 1000's for colour ups.

Yep Venerati's are fine too.

Either way I would try and get samples. On some ceramics, the linen finish can be too fine and the chips are slippery. I prefer they have a bit of grip so your stacks aren't falling over.

you played with milanos at my place - they are great, despite being a lesser quality (chinese clay) chip. I do find some of the chips fading over time if that is a concern.

a good value chip.. just not something you will find in moose's collection!

Depending on your budget, I really like the Championship poker series from Apache, or the new clay Dunes.

I ended up getting a deal on some used Nile Clubs and they're ok, but not great. A friend of mine has Veneratis and they're better.

I like the Dunes too. I'm not a big fan of the Championship ones though. I am considering the Veneratis also. From what I've read the Niles are not terrible but not great.

That would be accurate. For connoisseurs like Moose, they'd be terrible, but for my purposes, they're fine for what I paid.
