My name is chengy. I've been playing poker online for a few years, for the most part just casually. My biggest achievement is grinding my bankroll of $20 to 2300. It did take more than a few years (I was in school and am a pharmacist) but my BRM game is on point ;).

Anyway, while I'm not the type to take shots, I've decided to play at Rama on June 19th which will mark my first time playing poker in the casino ever. Outside of home games, June 19th will turn out to be an exciting experience.

Any tips for a live poker noob?

Socializing is the best part of live poker compared to clicking buttons online. When there were five of us in the final table last Monday, including UBetIfold, that knew of each other through Facebook, it's a lot more fun than the dead silence of deaf-mute :-X players hiding under sunglasses and hoodies. Unlike other bubble situations, the other nine players did not gang up on friendly UBetIfold about being evil or "bad karma" :biggrin: if he didn't agree to light money on fire for the bubble donation. It was also easier to ask for the players' name, city and consent to submit the results to HendonMob/GPI, which did appear online only one day after submitting. :cool2:

Beware that Rama does not use TDA Rules. Players are most likely to get their first-ever penalty at Rama just by mistakenly exposing a card or somebody doing the right thing and saying what card they saw you folded. :rage: When you are the next BB and moved to another table, Rama is the only casino I know of in the world that doesn't move you closest to the next BB but instead to the best possible position AWAY from the BB! :bs:

Appreciate the advice. Since it's my first time, I'm more likely to make a mistake by being too friendly vs. using it to my advantage. I'll keep the talking to the regulars for now. That said it's not like I'm not going to be friendly when I'm not in a hand.

Always be nice to the horrible players that bad beat you.

Never coach a player.

Practice saying, "Nice hand" when their K2o beats your AA as you smile and quickly muck your hand.

Never every talk strategy. Unless it's retarded strategy, "You were obviously due to hit one of those hands, you had to call." Don't talk about your light 7 betting range with ATo.

Live poker moves much slower than 96 tabling .01/.02 online.
