Hey all! I'm a young poker player (19) from Alberta typically grinding $1-$2NL and some small buy in MTT's. Anyone have advice for safely growing a bankroll? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. What's the rake in Alberta's 1/2 cash games such as Grey Eagle Casino, e.g., 5% at $5 max? I think the AGLC's deductions from low buy-in MTTs <= $100 is onerous, so you're better off grinding in low-rake cash games until your bankroll can afford to take shots in satellites > $100. Are you going to be at Run It Up / WPT DeepStacks Championship in Calgary?

Being in Alberta you have quite a few poker rooms to choose from. I wish we had as much PLO running in Ontario here are you do out there.

Thanks for the reply! I was told by a house manager I know, that around here every poker room takes 5% in rake. Grey Eagle is the only casino I haven't played in yet, I always grind at either Cowboys Poker Room or the Deerfoot Poker Room. Have had great times at both and games are usually pretty soft if you can hit them at the right time of day.

Good Luck. Not a bad casino. On the small size. I found it smokey. They is a great steak house about 15 min away. I don't remember the name. Maybe the OP can help you with that.

After suffering with the Toronto Maple Leafs since 1967, I finally got to watch two professional hockey teams at the Calgary Saddledome on Friday with the WPT DeepStack event champions and guests. Jeanine Deeb, Freddie Deeb's daughter, upgraded us to the section behind the goal and I got to sit beside WPT Director Matt Savage.

I plan to go to Cowboys Casino on Sunday, along with Calgary Tower, Sky 360 revolving restaurant, Elbow River Casino, then back to Grey Eagle for Event 9. On Monday, I hope to get a ride to Banff from one of the local players I had met at Playground.
