Hi my name is Nick I'm 20 and from southern Ontario. Been playing poker for a little while always play money never really real money online have played in a casino. I have a few questions regarding online poker play with real money, what is the best site to play online safest and with the best deposit/withdraw options. The main issue with me and why I have been hesitant is I live with a bunch of family members under one roof and they're very weird when it comes to gambling and such, the last thing I need is mail coming from an online poker site, which is also why I don't use real information. So I'm just wondering which site does not send out mail.. Etc .. I know it kind of sounds weird and all but I'd rather not have to confront them about this as we've had family members with severe gambling problems in the past.

Sign up for pokerstars and use an email that only you use. They will not send you anything in the mail unless you ask them to. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

I just have 1 more question about poker winnings in Ontario, how does it work? Do I have to declare any winnings or anything? I've read a few things and each one I get told something different.

Short answer: No

Long answer: The CRA can determine on a case by case basis, whether you are actually in the Business of playing poker. This is the only way you would have to declare winnings as income. This will never happen unless you quit your job and play full time. And in fact, even if you do quit your job, and play poker full time for 3 years, and make a profit, you may still not have to!!

Interesting, wouldn't you be linked to your personal financial records as soon as you deposit from your bank account and they could see exactly how much you're earning based on withdrawals?

I wouldn't be too worried about A.) making that much money online just yet B.) the CRA caring about a few hundred dollars here and there. and C.) Getting mail, at least not from tilt or stars, or any other place i've played really, unless you use your points to order swag and have it shipped to you....

Sure they can see all of that, but it doesn't matter since it's not taxable income. You don't have to hide anything.

But yeah I wouldn't worry about that just yet either way.
