Laptop Adapter

For those whose laptop AC adapter stopped working, did a non-OEM replacement work? My Dell 90W-AC Adapter (Model LA90PE1-00) stopped working today. :( A Dell rep claimed that I need to buy a Dell-branded adapter since a third-party adapter may fry my laptop. It will take one to two weeks to be delivered, which is way too long with Pokerfest, WPT satellites and other important online tournaments going on. Has anybody ever bought a Delta, Lite-On, Flextronics, Hipro or other compatible AC adapter from a computer store without any problems on their laptop?

there is something to that, as not all chargers are created equal. Some of the cheaper universal ones may provide a slightly wrong voltage in an effort to fit more models. A non-OEM replacement will be fine as long as it is one of good quality, I wouldn't know where to look for one though.

I get asked this question regularily. You definitely do NOT have to only use a Dell branded one, bunch of hog wash. We sell a Cooler Master one for $55. I believe. Has all the tips for many different laptops. Almost all standard laptops are 19v now so as long as you have the right tips they are fine. Not if you have a big gaming laptop, different story.

Since I cannot wait for 1-2 weeks for Dell's shipment, I passed by Best Buy and tried the Insignia "Slim Universal Laptop & USB Charger." It is working for now. Thanks for the replies.

Now if only chaimr1924 the hacker can fix the Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks and botnets that seem to be crippling partypoker and 888 ... :eek2:

Thanks, but I had already bought from Best Buy to get back to playing ASAP. Purolator was lazy in not attempting to deliver the "magic Dell plastic," but I am using it now and keeping the Insignia as a back-up.
