Any one going to this? I may be able to get the time off. Any one looking for car pooling or taxi sharing please pm details, I wish they had a hotel right across the street I would pay triple to avoid the commute in! Or bring back the bus service they had for the earlier events. Also anyone stay the hotel bossard? I am coincidering not staying downtown, the commute in and out gets to be a bit much

What days are you looking at going ?? I'm driving anyways so if the days match up may as well take one car. I'm too old to share a room with anyone but some company on the drive would be nice.

I was going to try and play Friday pending my vacation goes threw, were are you going to stay ? And I ok with not sharing room I like my personal space and quiet time. I just looking for someone to travel with. I think we met at FPC this year, I think we played a few satellites together.

While other players didn't like it, Motel Rustik is the closest motel to Playground, and my previous roommate said it was perfectly fine for sleeping and has booked it again this month. If I can somehow juggle a bunch of family/poker date conflicts, I want to drive there for one day on August 30 or 29.
I'll email my regular BAP investors about the $1,100 event with possible overlay if I'm able to go.

Looks like a dive............ But.......... It is only 1.6 kms to the playground.
I do hate that trip across the bridge when 1000 degens are all trying to get to playground at the same time.
Buddy, how much was this place per night ??

My tentative plan is to fly down on Friday. I'll definitely be staying until Thursday as I have an airplane ticket booked to fly from Montreal to Calgary that day so if I bust the tournament, I'll probably still head to Playground to play their daily tournaments or cash games each day. If it works out, I wouldn't mind carpooling down on Friday evening or Saturday morning.
In terms of accommodations, I haven't booked anything yet but airbnb has a lot of good deals. If dates worked out and someone want to split costs, they also have some 2br places available.

It's best to phone them. Three of us were considering booking the two-bedroom "suite" but only one friend is sure and has booked a room for August 27-31 and may be looking to split it. I've stayed in other motels for ~$65/night near Brossard to bypass the bridge.

It's hard to say for sure, but despite the hiccups it's looking like this whole series will be pretty well-attended. We've had hundreds of new Player's Card signups online in the past couple of weeks, and at the end of the day there are around 250 sat seats out there (if not more, it's a growing number still).

wish I still had my cousins hookup but already used it this year or canada cup. Can't go wrong with $50/night at ALT hotel in Griffentown. 20 minute drive to playground though.
Motel Rustik looks just fine if you plan on just sleeping and playing poker.

WOW - CNS I forgot that it was you but I've been meaning to ask... Aside from price, how was the ALT Hotel? From the website it looks brand new and very modern and stylish, but in reality is it all it looks like? Was the service good etc.? How about food onsite - do they have a resto or a coffee shop or what?
cns187
It was awesome, nice hotel and very modern. Food was very limited they had a starbucks and a small snack bar by the front desk. There was a restaurant attached also but still under construction. Beds were super comfortable and I was very relaxed everyday I went to playground.

I will never go to Playground again, second worst room in the world only losing out to fallsview.

The real playground or the fake one? Or the one down the street?

You seem to be the only person on the interweb with negative things to say about the playground. Wonder what it could possibly be.

Confirmed. No one hates playground.
Probably thinks its rigged or something. He was likely on the wrong side of their RNG.

I'm trying to find a way to juggle my way into the $1,100 Main Event. Will the following work or am I a crazy degenerate?
1) After a school meeting on August 28, I would make a beeline with my car almost as old as compuease for the 5-6 hour drive. To avoid falling asleep on the highway, I'll have to take a nap OnRoute, but I hope to arrive at Playground by 8 PM to play one or more satellites.
2) Play Day 1A on August 29, 11 AM, and when my 1A is over, immediately drive back to the GTA.
3) My roommate and I have to be back in Toronto the following morning for the CNE Casino Championship Final. He's using his reward points to fly back.
4) Instead of playing online or the $550 BCC DS on Sunday, spend it with family at Canada's Wonderland to watch the fireworks, ride on SkyRider a final time before it gets dismantled, and pig out on funnel cakes & foot-long hotdogs.
5) Since I expect to make it to Day 2, I will have to make the late night drive back to Kahnawake to continue playing on Labour Day Monday at noon.
Doable or crazy?

I have no idea how you juggle a family and poker. I need to get some tips. I have trouble with just a wife.

For someone who cares so much about rake, you don't seem to care much about the price of gas!
