So much to say about the Deerfoot Inn & Casino Summer Super Stack Series, just going to get the thread started so we can start breaking down the events as for starters is $550 Heads Up with a GTD, "5 Barrel" tourney that plays almost like a cash (possibly best of both worlds), PL0 and a Main with a low rake and 200k...

Alright, so Event 1 is pretty self explanatory, a $300 + $30 with day 1a-c on August 7th to 9th with an $80k prize-pool GTD. Latest trends should see this get pretty close to 400 entries and should have no trouble getting over 300 min. Finals (Day 2) are on August 10th.

20,000 starting chips with 30 minute levels, entry open for first 4 levels, start with a full stack even late reg of course.

Going to jump ahead to the $220-$1,100 "5 barrel" Event 3 on August 9th to hopefully get the discussion/interest going > players can buy in for $220 to $1,100 with each bullet being worth 10,000 tournament chips. The first day is three levels of THREE hours long!

It's essentially the best of both the cash game and tourney worlds, as stamina and figuring out which way to play your "roll" best makes up the first day. Look at as an $1,100 with 50,000 starting chips or a format that let's you min buy to try to run it up from $220 if shortstacking is more in your comfort zone. On Day 2 you can still buy in for 1-5 stacks for the first 4 levels, but the blind levels are only 30 minutes. This has some real potential to be monster stack poker with a fat prize-pool, what do you all think of this little twist from the norm?

Sounds crazy to me. I almost think the guys buying in for the min are throwing their money away. This isn't the same as a cash game, after all.

A little gamble might turn into huge value though...shortstacking is shooting it and praying no doubt, but a few flips to the good side and your saving tons!

Hey guys.
Looks like there will be some questions about CPT.
No this is not a CPT event and there will be no points towards CPT POY.
Jon does have us connected with GPI. Results and points will count on the GPI!!!

On the 5 Barrel, $220 gets you 10K in chips and blinds will only get up to 50-100 on Day 1!!!
That's lots of play and 100 BB is not a short stack!!
Day 1 plays very much like a cash game because your never concerned with blinds going up.
Day 2 begins your tournament play after you had all of Day 1 to build a stack.

Good question. This keeps evolving, it used to just be +$1500 events that counted, then $1000, now they do points on any public events over $1

Alternatively, CPT points are generally limited to those venues/events associated with them - Yellowhead, Argyll, Deerfoot Inn & Casino & Cash Casino are examples of Alberta Casinos that generally DON'T count towards their POY standings. I don't think Playground does either, while Fallsview & RiverRock have...hope this helps to explain how that all works

As for the other POY standings I will be sending a wind up & results to Eric Danis @ GPI daily, to the results team at Hendon and to Kevin Mathers @Bluff. I can also submit to CardPlayer & PokerPages but it won't be as much of a priority as they don't get them up quite as fast and honestly don't seem to have quite as many Canadian results as the other two. Hendon also allows you to sort each venue into it's own All Time Money List & Most Cashes

Above is the link to the DFIC Money List- Huck Seed, Matt Jarvis & Gavin Smith are a few names most will recognize in the Top 5, while PFC member SickCards usually tops the number of cashes list.

I will also be posting on CanadaPoker and we have plans to submit to the Main PokerNews.com site as they are also running ads to help pump these prize-pools.

Of course I'll be directing as many people to this thread as possible as it's always nice for people to come see what the forum is all about and how great it is for centralizing information while meeting other players.

Event 8 should be a must play for medium limit players - $1,400 + $100 (Hoping for a BlondeFish green stamp rake approval), with a $200k GTD.

There are 3 starting days from August 14th to 16th (Thursday to Friday), so plenty of oppurtunity for multiple entries, with Main Event Day 2 wrapping up on August 17th.

30,000 starting chips with 60 minute levels, what's not to like?

Event 4 on August 11th is $550 Mega Stack. Will be a long day, but tons of play with 40 minute blinds and 25,000 starting chips. With Calgary just getting 427 in a $330 this week, I'd say this $550 with such a deep structure should see awesome numbers and the perfect amount of play for a medium buy-in. $550 isn't huge by comparison to most mains, but they shouldn't be turboish if they are "mega stacks" either.

Noon start on this one with a $40,000 prize-pool guarantee and full stack late entry for the first 4 levels.

What's the reasoning for Alberta Gaming charging an extra 2.5%? Doesn't the Alberta government own the casinos anyway, just like OLG owns all the Ontario casinos?

This rebuy/add-on is my favourite format with the fee-free rebuys and add-on that makes the prize pool huge, much better than the terrible re-entry format where a lot of that money goes to the casino instead.

Now can confirm that "on demand" single and double table sats to the $1400+$100 Main with 200k gtd will run whenever 10-20 players ready. $170+$10 on the main stage over series.

"tickets straight to the main but transferable". So you can sell em but someone has to play is what I get.

Bump for the $1400 + $100 Super Stack 1a-1c on this Thursday, Friday & Saturday. 30k starting chips with one hour levels. There is a moderate chance of overlay given the $200,000 guarantee. First few events have been a little lighter than anticipated, so it's really anyone's guess. The $330 did make it's guarantee of $80,000 to the player pool, actually ended up a little higher with 291 entries.

The buffet will be a premium one, taken up a notch from the ones during the side events. All included in a nice low reg.

Anyone coming?
