Use the
KISS principle - be honest especially if you're bringing at least $10K. Do NOT try to sneak in or divide out your $10K+, or you and your friend(s) can lose all the money & end up in jail! :o
1) Declare your $10K+ or whatever financial instruments you have at the airport. Leave plenty of time in case you are sent for secondary inspection. I showed my ~U$10K and they did not even bother to count it.
2) I put most of my cash in the safety deposit box at the hotel. Remember to keep taking enough cash out before you leave your hotel; I wasted a +EV WSOP satellite table since I had to go back to my hotel to pay for the higher buy-ins.
3) Going back, declare whatever financial instruments you have in every border you cross, including cheques. I asked for my final table cash in a cheque, declared it at the first airport and upon arriving in Canada. I was again asked to go for secondary inspection, signed some papers then was free to go.
I have a TD US Borderless Plan, and I will probably use TD's
Cross-Border Banking if I ever run out of highly +EV games in Canada and need to play elsewhere.
bluesky;369949 wroteDon't want to really side track the thread but how would you bring like 10k down?
No credit. No credit cards. Like 2nd time to Vegas. I might have to open a TD account - I hear there is a TD in the states.
