Evening all,

My Wife has hinted that I won't be shot if I buy myself a small-ish Game/Poker Table for my Rec Room and a set of Not-Toy Store Chips with which to play. That being said, I am in the middle of bloody nowhere when it comes to Stores that might sell proper supplies. It's 380km drive to get to Edmonton for me so I'm here wondering if any of you folks know of a Canadian Distributor for such things and where I might find them. Edmonton would be great, but Online I will take as well.

I've been browsing around Paulson and Pokerchips and while the Products look good their Shipping is exceptionally high depending on what you Order.

Strangely the local Casino wouldn't offer up anything in the way of information when I went out there to ask.

Check out their "free shipping" offer. Doubt it applies to tables, but it will help you out with the chips part.

Also, if you are at all handy with tools, there are plenty of plans available on the web to DIY a decent table, and you could purchase the speedcloth on-line, too.

Also keep an eye out on Chiptalk.net for sales through The Chiproom. Used and not so used Paulson's for decent prices.

Thanks very much Milo! I knew there had to be someplace in Canada that I could go to. As for Handy..I have two hands, that's about as Handy as I get when it comes to building furniture. I'll leave that to the professionals.

I seem to recall a forumer having his own poker table making business. Check out the buy and sell section for examples of his custom poker tables, that can also double as a nice table.

For the table - have you considered building one?

Did mine with a few buddies in an afternoon, cost was around 200 and its been solid for at least 7-8 years so far. I re felt it every few years to make it brand new again :)

I'm not handy at all and I built a fine looking "racetrack" style octagon poker table. It isn't that difficult. Jigsaw, heavy duty staple gun. I even put drink holder cups in that I purchased at a marine supply store.

^ basically this. No handiness required, just a case of beer and an afternoon!

At the end of the day we're talking about cutting a piece of plywood into a circle, gluing down some (specialized) foam, and then wrapping it in 'felt'. The leftover piece becomes the rail - glue down some more foam to that piece, wrap in vinyl, and staple staple staple... Done!!

But yeah, depending on your budget there are some really beautiful tables available out there!!

Technically correct . . . in the way that "dice" chips are just as good as Paulson's for the purpose of "play".
