GTA Poker;365991 wroteThe entrance stairway walls in my house have a flat white paint. There are some marks from the movers and likely some from prior to them since the house is 30 years old. Would touching up the spots leave obvious, well, touch up spots... Should I repaint the entire wall instead? Should we talk?
I honestly have no desire to do this if it involves the entire wall... Should I hire someone to touch up various spots in the house and redo this wall?
Flat paint is for old people who don't move much without kids or pets. For the most part, if you touch it you're going to leave a mark. You can't clean it at all for the most part. The only advantage is that it hides any surface imperfections quite well because it's dull and eats light. Any sheen will reflect light and create shadows over imperfections and scuffs.
That being said, if the current paint job was recent, you could likely touch it up and make it not noticeable if you have the EXACT colour code. If the current paint job wasn't recent (i.e. years), it will have faded slightly due to oxidation, exposure to pollutants, light, etc. At this point, even if you use the exact same colour code it's going to show.
Best situation is to repaint from corner to corner. Otherwise touch up. Depends on how fussy you are.
There you go. No charge.
