Any update on how the Matricom box is working out Moose? I may have in fact convinced my wife that this is the way to go.

Ive been following this thread for a while now. Haven't followed every post but been keeping track nevertheless.

I just recently found out about this xbmc/kodi thing. Surprisingly as I consider myself somewhat techy, and this has been out forever.

I've never been an android fanboy. Always had apple for phones etc, and been using a wdtv for years now and I love it.

This was the device I was told is suppose to be the highest of highest quality as of now. Octocore processor etc etc. http://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B00PT5DVLQ?vs=1.

Couple questions I have, if we were to 'cut' the cable, we'd have to get one of these for each tv correct, as we currently have 3 Rogers set top boxes. Also, is there any definitive links re: live hockey games, live local news? Seems to be the biggest concern with the little I've read about it.

Lastly, a list of the best/ most used / must have addons. 1channel, etc. I'm still very new about all this and trying to educate myself more

Yep, that would appear to be the same product that Moose is talking about. Interesting that it only got 3.5/5 stars in the reviews, but I rarely put much stock in web reviews.

The main grumbles I noticed in the reviews appear to be the power cord for some reason, and the remote control which sounds like it was pretty cheaply made. I just saw the wireless mini keyboard available for $16 today so I'm not sure if that's the one people are talking about.

I'm pretty new to this realm as well, so I can't say I have any answers regarding hockey or local news but that would be a nice feature. When I started looking into this the other day it seems there's so much information to digest/available it can take time to take it all in.

I would assume you have to get three boxes. Not sure how that would work out in terms of bandwidth if you were streaming three different programs at once.

I agree though this thread has been a good read for me over the past week or so. Finally made me make the decision to go cable-tv'less.

Although, just replacing my old wdtv would be enough as the does everything it does, plus way more. I could also cancel Netflix I suppose also. With that and cable I'd be saving $100/month. Something to think about.

Yep, people on the interweb whine. A lot. It's getting enough positive reviews to make me think it's solid as well.

We've got a wdtv live as well, but since we've got Netflix free for a month the wdtv hasn't been used at all. I'm thinking of selling the wdtv for whatever I can get for it and ordering one of these things as the wdtv would just be redundant.

I was actually surprised when I went to the local cable supplier to dump cable tv and increase our internet package. I actually thought there would be some of the usual resistance "let's talk about this/what could we do better" kind of thing. Not one burp of hesitation. Done by noon the next day, no questions asked.

I noticed this as one of the "people who are buying this are also buying" items. I've also been hearing that when you're setting the box up, connecting a keyboard makes life a lot easier. Maybe that's why this is becoming an often bought accessory?

OK I saw the one bill linked but the reviews were terrible.

This seems good. Couple of people bought this and the one ubet linked and said this one was better.

They seem to carry all the ipazz models. If my box comes tomorrow and I want a keyboard I think I will get the kp-810-21 model first and if I like it, I may get a flymote for playing games.

Another question , what speed of Internet would be needed to do a lot of streaming. Or Better yet, what download and upload speeds are you guys running?

I just did a test and got 30 mbps d/l and 2.2 upload. If I cancelled cable I would have to step up my Internet a few notches.

Really? I assure you I'm not questioning your tech kungfu, as it's obviously better than mine. We hooked up with Netflix a week ago or so as they said we needed at least 5Mb/s and we had 6.8Mb/s. Of course at that point I read a bunch of reviews that said a more realistic number required was 8-10Mb/s to run it effectively. So we upped our internet package to where we're now getting around 19.8Mb/s.

That being said and I'm not kidding, 10 seconds ago my wife's watching a movie on Netflix and the damn thing hung up. WDTV controller frozen, couldn't get it to stop/pause/power off, etc. I just had to unplug the damn thing.

Keeping technology going is becoming a full time job for me at this point.
