A rambling introduction.

Hello. My name is Tim. I'm new.

Actually, that's not entirely accurate.

The decrepit carbon based husk that is me is certainly far from new, as the decaying eyesight, laboring lungs and declining hair-to-scalp ratio remind me every day.

And I'm not really new to poker.
Four decades ago, poker was something the older brother of a kid I played with had taught us. The two of us would spend hours sitting in a room, playing hand after hand of 'draw poker'. 3 draws of 3 cards, with the jokers in, 2 or 3 other 'wild cards'.
Referring to what we played as 'poker' is really stretching it.

Three decades ago, poker was something that we did a couple of times a month during the weekend parties when you didn't feel like music, chess, or various drinking games.
(My wife still insists that college was supposed to be for learning.)
(The poor woman is deluded...)

Two decades ago, poker was a way to raise some money during a buddy's stag.

One decade ago, poker was the WSOP on CITY-TV, and this cool looking 'new' game called Hold-em. And something called the Red Hot Poker Tour once or twice a week.

I'm not even new here, to this forum.
It will be a year next month since I joined. I've been infrequently lurking for 11 months.

I guess the only thing I'm new at is starting to talk to you guys.

So why start talking now?

That's going to take some explaining, and this introduction is already too long.
I will expand later in another posting.

Ontario. One small house between Paris and Woodstock, one small house between Parry Sound and Bracebridge where my wife lives 99% of the time. One dead end job in Mississauga. I live down south on my own during the week, with my wife (and the
dogs) up north on weekends.

Welcome Tim!

I played in the Red Hot Poker tour! Those fields were the weakest I've ever seen. Fun times!

As anyone here will tell you I'm not a tournament player but one week before their tournament of champions I played 7 of those 80-100 man bar tourneys in a week, I came first in 4, 2nd in 1, 5th in another and busted out one. I was a major fish on a heater!
