While I was playing in Brantford tourney yesterday, I heard that they are planning on adding a NL room.

Unsubstantiated rumour....(from another player).

Anyone else hear about this?

I'm not sure how they could given that it is a charity casino (max $100 bet).

Maybe there is a way around it if they offer 1-2 NL with a $100 max buyin...but I don't know.

could have something to do w/ the alleged plans to privatize. and yes they can offer 1-100 spread limit already.

Never understood why they just don't train for "cap" games like they have online.... it isn't all that hard.

Maybe it's because they have a monopoly on legal gambling and so do not have to respond to consumer demand but can instead offer whatever crappy games and crappy service they wish?

The rumour has been floating around forever. NL is never going to come until the $100 max bet cap is lifted. End of story.

Spread limit would be a decent compromise. I'd definitely go if that happened.

Bottom line, they make far more with the time charge at the higher limits than they would raking $5 max from nl pots. As soon as they bring in $100 cap nl, all the limit games will die. Already happened at OLG Gananoque and Point Edward.

Casino makes more money in the long term with Limit poker than No-Limit poker because players lose money at a slower rate in Limit poker. In Las Vagas in the late 70's casinos switched to and promoted the Limit poker game because they found out it is better to have poker players pack their room everyday instead offering big No-limit game where player can lose their annual Limit-Poker entertainment dollar in 1 day and won't come back to the casino for the rest of the year. Due to the TV shows that pop up in the mid 2000's NL became popular. Initially it works for the casino because it brings in a lot of new poker players. But as time goes by the number of poker players are dropping in a alarming rate because they lose money too fast at NL. Just compare Fallsview and Rama when they first open their NL game and the number of players they have today and you will get the picture.
