Ditto . . . they played it on the radio when I was in the car. I can clearly remember that night. What a great time . . . the sound on Yonge St. was a physical force, and quite painful after about 45 minutes. A well deserved honour for a classy broadcaster.

Well deserved. Tom Cheek and Jerry Howarth were the best broadcast team in baseball, IMO. Even better than Harry Caray and Steve Stone.

I have a lot of good childhood memories listening to him call games. Long overdue IMO, but glad it finally happened.

I was very happy to hear this news. It's sad that the Hall of Fame didn't seize the opportunity to award it to him when he was alive, but I am glad to see that they finally acknowledged his contributions.
