I think Ive told this story on here before.

When I was about 10 years old I found roughly 10k cash stashed behind a convenience store in a small town in SW Ontario.

After about 5 minutes I snap returned it to the store (Are the "Beckers" franchise of stores still around?).

I got nothing, not even a thank you from the prick store owner.

I did however, get called to court to testify against the guy who stole the cash from the gas bar (geniuses, FTW).

I'll never return found cash - ever again.

wow Wetts that's insane lol, I've fantasized about finding cash somewhere like that, can't believe that actually happened to you. Have no idea what I would do as a ten-year old though...

to be honest I'd probably take the money if I thought it couldn't be traced back to me, don't think I'd have it in me to give it back to someone I don't know or will never meet again

I'd guess since he was a cab driver....he probably 'found' the money by it being left in his cab...so it would have been traced back to him anyway. If it wasn't traceable at all I doubt many would give it back. If it was completely in the middle of nowhere I'd hold it for a few weeks...watch the news and make sure it wasn't money stolen from a poor orphanage or some charity and if nothing is made of it keep it. If it's dirty money or lost due to someone being a moron...odds are it's better in my hands anyway :D

Once it went public that the money was gone, the press would ensure sufficient coverage to TRIPLE the original amount missing. Everyone wins!!

Pay attention . . . it was $600k . . . but a cabbie returned $200k that was left in his cab. Then, the cheap-ass orphans only gave him a chintzy 1k tip.
