ANTE UP: FALLSVIEW POKER CLASSIC RETURNS
Niagara Falls, ON – The Fallsview Poker Classic returns for its fourth year from January 16-21 at Fallsview Casino Resort where Texas Hold ‘Em players will vie for a piece of the estimated C$2.5 million prize pool.
“We’ve heard from both professional and amateur players of how much they love this event,” said Greg Medulun, Director of Communications of Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara. “We’re expecting another huge turnout that will guarantee thrilling and competitive gaming action for participants.”
The tournament takes place in Fallsview Casino’s Grand Hall and features three main events. Participants can either buy-in directly for $1,000, $2,500 or $5,000 or register for a satellite, which remain popular among players due to low entry fees and the potential for big-money payoffs. Satellite tournaments began November 5, 2012, and run throughout each of the main events. Additionally, two super satellite tournaments will be held January 17 and January 19 at 3 p.m. for the $2,500 and $5,000 main events.
Last year’s Fallsview Poker Classic netted the largest field in Canadian poker tournament history with a total of 1,392 players taking part in the six-day tournament, which offered a total prize purse of over C$2.8 million. The $5,000 main event was taken by Thomas Middleton of England, who outlasted a field of 229 players and survived a five-and-a-half hour final table to win over $300,000 in prize money. Catching first place in the $2,500 and $1,000 main event was Nicky Evans of England and Steven Howchin of Ontario, respectively.
