some thoughts ... please :)

playing in a live tourney last night, and i'd like some thoughts on a particular hand ...

8 person table ... blinds at 200/400 (no ante)

i'm in seat 6 ... seats 3, 4, and 5 fold pre-flop ... i raise to 1200 with pocket 10s ... seats 7 and 8 (DB) fold ... SB calls my raise, and BB calls cause he's basically priced in ...

flop comes down 4s .. 5h .. 9c

SB checks, BB checks, and i (thinking SB is on AK, AQ, etc) push all in ... i was a little short stacked (7900), so it seemed right to try and push out the above mentioned hands ...

SB calls (BB folds) and turns over 4h and 5c ... i don't catch my 10 and he takes it.

now, to me it seems a pretty donk move to call my raise with 4/5 off from SB ... what are your thoughts?

did i make a mistake pushing all in after the flop? ... or was my move a correct one?

thanks for that jd ... he was trying to convince me that i did something wrong by pushing all in after the flop, and tried to tell me that i should have only bet half of my stack to get a better read on where he was at ...

this doesn't make sense to me because even if i only bet half my stack it still gives him odds to call (the pots at 3600, i would have been betting 3350), and i still would have put on the same thing, i.e. AK, AQ, etc.

it's nice to know at least one other person agrees with me ... he was a total donk :mad:

You're playing live poker, most of the players are gonna be horrendous so don't worry about their advice/opinions on poker.

Trigs was trying to be funny, 'cause you are asking for hand analysis in the Brag, Beat, Variance Forum. Should be in the hand analysis section.

As for the hand. What else could you do ? Maybe Shove all in preflop and take down the blinds, a 3x BB raise is tricky with TT, because anyone who calls you, likely has two overs, or at least one, and if the flop comes with an over (40% of the time it will), you are left with a difficult decision.

With less than 20BBs, I'm likely just getting it in pre-flop.

How deep was the SB?
How active have you been?

Context is needed.

If your raise represents a small % of my stack and you've been active, I may be tempted with connectors.

Pretty standard hand, don't think there is much differently you want to do. If your holding AA there and it plays out same way your still bust.

I don't hate his call though as Wetts said, if I have chips and your type of player who is going to shove or stay committed to the hand, chances are I am going to take a few chances to be in the hand when you do.

Why do you put him on that range? Are you raising, entering pots often or attacking the blinds?
