No More Money Bubbles
Tired of bubbling the money in your online tournaments? A new Las Vegas company has a solution to help reduce variance along with the tilt that comes with falling just short of the money.
With Bubble Protection, players can purchase insurance against busting on the money bubble for a "modest" fee. Rather than the money bubble being one static position, the Bubble Protection “Bubble Range” will be 10 percent of the total number of entrants in a tournament. For example, if there are 1,000 players in the tournament, the bubble will be 100 places. If you finish in one of those positions, your buy-in (and rake) will be returned to you.

Sounds interesting, but what will be the fee and it would have to be way lower than the money you would be winning if you bubbled:confused:

We do something like this at my local casino in the daily tournaments. It's been pretty standard for the last few years that when the tournament gets to the "bubble", everyone pitches some more money to create another pay spot that gets the bubble player their buy in back. Personally, I have never liked it. All it did was create an artificial bubble one spot earlier, because it was always expected that we would pay the one extra player. I've opted out of it about 90% of the time, and it's always been an interesting mix of reactions.

As for how it will work online... I guess we will see. I personally don't play enough tournaments to get concerned with it, but I can imagine an MTT grinder would be interested in this. I'll have to do some research into it, I'm quite curious how much money this site will make...

All jokes aside, I would like to see how this works and might try it out once. Maybe it will help, who knows.
