Party $5.50, MTT, in the money play..

Down to final 22 of Party $5.50 no rake. 333 runners, $476. up top... Short stacked (I have 35K, avg is 80K) but I have lots of practice... lol..

Table is pretty tight except for a couple of guys to my right.
Folded to me, 6K in the pot, pushed A,4 on the button for 11.5 BB's (35K). Should I be playing this some other way? Or is this standard?

Your hand is only a blocker here if there tight there only calling with pocket pairs or better aces. With antes id shove almost any two here except 6 or 7 highs to avoid higher pp crushing me. You can limp hoping they shove you but why do you want a chance to get knocked out when you can increase your stack 20% 90% of the time?

I really was only asking rhetorically.. Just 2nd guessing myself as it seems like I never seem to win these. For sure push wider than A,4. Although he called me with a solid hand in this case, it just seems that I will get called by something like q,6o and get beat everytime... Now I know this just seems like selective memory and probably is just because I play such small volume...

Np. And no you should never play it some other way either, with <12BB I don't think I ever do anything but push/fold. I suppose at micro's you can min-raise your monsters still or something but vs. anyone close to reasonable 12BB is like the cut-off of where I never do anything but shove or fold, even up to 16BB I'm basically just playing push/fold 95%+ of the time, but at lower-stakes it's probably optimal to min-raise your bigger hands to induce action and shove the rest when you're around 14-16BB since no one's going to catch on anyways.
