EE 2 for 23?
Add a zero to the end, especially coming off a hand injury late in ST.

Panicking over him batting .100 after 23 ABs is like calling a coin biased when it only comes up heads 8 times in 20 flips
Trade Dickey. Try to get Halliday back.

Maybe, but the numbers he put up last year was a career year for him. I said it a while ago, chances of him duplicating his season of a year ago were slim at best. Certainly don't see him getting to 25 HR and being the first base guy or DH he should really be at the 28 - 30 mark. If AA knew he was going to go for it the year after Fielder was a free agent he should have signed him first. The problem is AA blew up his plan in a panic. Now we have no choice but to wait and see what happens.

He still won't admit he got fleeced by the Chisox either.

This Week 11 Last Week 10 New York Yankees 10-8

The raging concern about the Yankees in the spring was their loss of power, but that hasn't been a problem thus far. They lead the American League with 28 home runs and a .452 slugging percentage. Can DH Travis Hafner (5 HR, 1.120 OPS) stay healthy enough to have an impact all year long?

This Week 24L ast Week 27 Toronto Blue Jays 8-12

Losing SS Jose Reyes (who had a .991 OPS in the first 10 games) doesn't make it any easier for the Blue Jays to dig out of their early hole. Virtually the entire infield -- Brett Lawrie, Maicer Izturis, Emilio Bonifacio and Edwin Encarnacion -- needs to provide more offence, especially in the absence of Reyes.
Key Injuries: SS Jose Reyes (ankle).

So if the Jays fail to make the playoffs, will they use the injuries they have had thus far as an excuse? Sad but yes Jays and the fans will.

Question 2, If the Jays finish no better than 3 games above 500, which would put them out of the playoffs again, should AA be fired for blowing up his plan and taking on salary from guys who underachieved last your and for whatever reason expected things to be different this year?

Brent, I have already debunked your theory on Edwin in post #296 of this thread.

Quote: "If you extrapolate EE's stats to the 542 AB's he got last year to every year he has played previously he would have averaged 24 HR and 78 RBI for his previous 7 MLB seasons. Note that average does not include his gaudy numbers from last season."

I agree that the Jays should have started the movement with Fielder in 2012 but the idea would be to replace Lind not EE. As a first baseman he makes a hell of a DH.
Interesting article in the local paper about how the Jays are introducing a "nut-free" zone in the Rogers Centre for those with severe allergies. Only six games this season, but still . . . it's a start.

The commenters on DJF are calling for Gibby to be fired and be replaced with Gandalf to perform some magic on the team and call up the Ents to hit because they are good with wood. Pure gold.

I hope he recovers quickly. He has impressed me on the mound.
Does the league have him wearing the catcher's helmet? I know that before I left to come here, a lot of the leagues were going to make it mandatory. Also, you should be aware there is nothing in the rule book to prevent him from wearing it on his own. It is a little uncomfortable at first, but they get use to it.

Man I remember my first start like it was yesterday. Hope he enjoys himself!

I thought it was coming too but this is baseball and the OBA has a habit of protecting the "purity" of the game before the protection of their players imo. I have drilled it into him to finish his delivery in a defensive position. I'm pretty sure he'd say he wouldn't want to pitch rather than wear a mask on the mound. I can't blame him, I never would have either.

At least they lowered the age at which they switch to wood bats only.

Strangely enough my kid pitches for the first time tonight too. I know what you mean about the OBA too. My kid started in softball because the younger kids had a better rule set. But the softball association also requires facemasks for all batters while the OBA doesn't. When he moved to baseball last year, he was the only one with a mask. Until they actually start pitching for themselves, the 'pitcher' on the mound had to wear a mask in softball and baseball. At mosquito and up, no helmet/mask for baseball pitchers and the kids pitch.

Sounds familiar. I assume he's a Cambridge Cub? Garrett played softball (fastpitch) last year. Mandatory facemask for hitting. Playing minor Mosquito baseball in Waterloo now, the first age group that the kids actually pitch themselves and no added protection. What really shocked me is that during try-outs last fall there was little to no emphasis put on pitching. Luckily I had a baseball background to teach some mechanics to Garrett last fall and in the off season. I'm afraid there are going to be a lot of hit by pitches and sore arms from improper coaching though.

Man, what is it about this week. My grandson pitched baseball for the first time last night in a mop up role in a 11-4 squeaker over Georgetown. (He's a minor mosquito playing 1 year up). Interesting to watch, never really thought about the pitchers though.. We were tougher (read stupider) in my day...
The line: 2 IP, 4 BB, 5 K, 0 ER, every walk was on a 3-2 count though.

Hope he got the bite! I know I did and still love baseball all these years later. Jack Morris 1-0 win, 10 shutout innings is something I will always appreciate even more so than Carter's homerun cause I was always a pitcher first.
Best gif ever. Encarnacion taking the parrot for a walk.

^^^ lol

Should see if it can pitch.
