Cereus is basically run out of Montreal, as are most poker websites. How hard is it to find consultants involved in setting online poker sites up. I know of a couple based out of BC as well.

People need to understand unregulated != illegal and to be honest, all regulated online poker is going to do is seriously segment the markets.

The United States is expected to end its four-year ban on Internet gambling this fall.

This statement which is constantly thrown around is untrue, as I'm sure most of you know already. How many people have been charged for playing online poker? Harrah's and a few other US operators have set up their own online poker sites.

Though to be honest, I'm pretty excited about the idea of all sites that pulled out of the US market coming back. Never effected us though. :)

Not that excited about online Ontario poker rooms. Will the rake be higher or lower than OLG? I wouldn't be surprised to see $5-7 raked pots.

I could see this coming as soon as BC and whatever other province said they were going to do this. Incredible amount of money to be made. Rake will probably be the same as live casino and I would imagine that the higher end cash games will be session /hr which you will pay before you are dealt a card.
I don't see our taxes going down. Just a huge cash grab for the Dalton Gang.:bs:

This is one of the many reasons the "unregulated" system we have right now isn't terrible.

And before someone chimes in that Canadians don't have to pay taxes on gambling winnings, the reality is that we don't have to pay taxes on "gambling winfalls" and regulated online poker most likely won't fall into that category.

For the record - I paid taxes on my poker winnings last year, as they were my sole source of income at the time. :mad:

Funny to see people have more faith in the unregulated offshore casinos then government run systems. I hope this site becomes a huge success so that the government has extra money to spend on their expenses, pay increases and kickbacks for their friends and family.
Whenever I think about any form of government I just think of how it must feel to be a Leaf fan. Promises and "this is the year" and all you get is crap.

I just believe that government's role is to regulate, rather than participate, in the economy.

By that I mean they should establish the rules for business to follow, rather than compete with pirvate businesses.

I figure that Dalton will be told next year that since he has screwed the taxpayers of this province over and over and with the e health and olg scandals along with paying out millions in severance packages to the retards they hired to run these institutions. There is no chance of him being elected again, He will step down with is nice cushy pension and all of the perks that come with it and the next criminal organization will jump right in there and rape and pillage us all over again.:mad:

The worse thing about this is that online poker rooms are starting to pull out of Canada. Some skins on The old Boss network (GTech) have already started pulling out, and its just a matter of time before the whole network goes.
