Looking back villain hadnt played many hands, was UTG and was pretty tight, limped a few. Do I just muck when he 4 bets or shove as played? I think I misplayed this big and luckboxed.

I love the result, but agree with you on a few points

1) you said utg was tight and well he is utg

2) He reraises you an amount he is sure you will call, and knowing that he knows you will at least call is obviously hoping he opens the door for you.

3) You shove and hit the flop, hey thats poker. NH sir! Little on the shakey side, my self agains a suddenly aggresive tight player I might just call for a flop. Sounds like you normally would to, but weren't really attached to the results either way at the level you were playing.

4) matters not he will call off all his chips here anyway most likely with his overpair.

Shove all day with QQ in that spot...if you lose, open another one...

Like previously posted 2x180s are ridiculous and you need to build a chip stack early on to contend later....shoving with big pairs is always +ev in these 180s.

I shove here always too. You can't really cold call his raise and let in more players behind you with queens, unless you want to get stacked :P 3bet is standard, looking to get it in preflop or on a not too dangerous flop (like AKJ).

on the other hand, smooth calling is another way to go if you sense strength. Start learning to go with your gut in these small tournies so you recognize that 'pull' in the larger ones. Sans-reraise devoids you of protection and maybe finding out where you are in the hand, but then again it adds mystery to your holdings and perhaps you gain extra value from a few extra callers?

In general you do not want to play multiway pots with QQ. The reason should be simple and obvious: If you slowplay it (or in this case sort of "semi-slowplay" when you smooth call) you encourage people with various hands like A-high, K-high and low pairs to call, thereby increasing the chance there will be an opponent left in the hand on the flop that draws you out. I also think it's skill dependant: The multiway pots are far more difficult to handle post flop, so unless you're an expert on that sort of play or at least very good, in a hand like this you should typically try to isolate the initial raiser with a re-raise.

With blinds so low and the action aggresive between you and utg, I wonder how many players will get out of the way? I can see the small PP trying to hit the flop or others maybe getting in for the size of the pot.

Low stakes, I think I have to take the mulitway pot responses over mine. Great answers in this thread!

Ok, I can see how i made the right move. I know I said he was tight, but at this level ($2 :D) even tighter players make this play with 99-AA, AJ+, so im almost always ahead of his range and its pricing out those setminers trying to get a flop.
