I've been playing the 50-player (not 50-man, you sexist pig! ;) ) SNGs at PartyPoker because of the
double points promotion until March 8. 7/50 or 14% get paid, which is not as good as a 3/9 SNG. 50 starting big blinds and a Skill Level of 0 might not be too bad for a one-table SNG, but it's a crapshoot with five tables. The worst is the $2.4+$0.60 speed SNG, with five minute blinds and a virtually unbeatable rake of 20%.
The one I like the most is the $10+$1 with 10-minute blinds and 9% rake. With the double points, my effective rakeback is at least 27%. Unfortunately, it takes hours for the mult-table SNGs to fill up, so sometimes I am deep in several tournaments when another table pops up unexpectedly for the SNG and it gets too hectic. I've only cashed once in these multi-table SNG crapshoots so that must mean that I'm an SNG donkey. :-[
If the rake is low enough, it is possible for an SNG shark who has memorized the Jam-or-Fold tables or Nash Equilibria strategies to have a decent hourly win rate with multi-tabling turbo crapshoots, but I much prefer higher Skill Level tournaments where I can maximize the net profit per game.
Graham;178984 wroteIt seems the 45 man ones are a bit better as the prizepool is higher and more paid positions... have you guys tried those?
P.S. A 50-player $5+$1 SNG (17% rake) just popped up, so it's time to push or fold.
Edit: I can't even make it to the top 45 as my KK gets cracked. :fish:
