Despite the blackouts, GO station closings and closed off roads in Georgetown and the rest of the GTA, at least 60 players showed up for the weekly Friday tournament, the highest since the grand opening. Players showed up as early as 6 PM to get started on some poker action. More forumers and familiar faces showed up for the first time to check out the great value tournament, which started shortly after 8 PM.
With a huge starting stack of 10,000 chips, which is 200 times the big blind, there was a lot of poker play and I think it was past midnight when it got down to the final table of ten. There was of course a Milton Rock on the final table, and I could tell that he was the player to watch out for. We ended up heads-up, with him having 125,000 chips and me having the remaining ~575,000 chips.
I prefer playing a tournament out to the very end, but I wanted to get in on the side action and offered Mark an increased share of the $1,900 pool for the top two places. The organizer had generously kept the first prize at $1,250 even though that amount was based on a sell-out of 80 players. Mark asked fellow Milton Rock compuease for an opinion of my chop proposal. Since I like Milton players, I increased my offer. I whipped out my PDA and joked with compuease that I was about to calculate the actual tournament $EV using the Independent Chip Model, but we all knew that my offer was more than fair and we chopped.
The Rock and I agreed to play it out for the fun and
halibut, as well as determining who would be the official bounty next Friday. Whoever takes out the bounty wins a free buy-in for the following Friday, which is how compuease got to play for free this week. Congratulations to Mark for a well-played heads-up match and for being the next bounty.
P.S. Doing my usual post-game analysis, I used an ICM calculator and my tournament $EV was approximately $1,143 while Mark's was $757, so both my offers were reasonable.

Played it for the first time last Friday, finishing 3rd, and taking out the previous weeks winner which gets me a free buyin this Friday.
