We are coming up on our third weekend running. Can't wait for another awesome few nights. Doors open at 8PM. Last week's incentives worked great! Our new incentives this week are awesome as well. They are as follows:

Thursday is STILL The Night Of The Comp. PM us for details.

Friday and Saturday we still have our 10% bonus but it has a twist! ALL NEW PLAYERS get a 10% bonus buy before 9PM. And for all of you who have been to The Shop before, bring a new player and both you and them get the bonus buy.

Also we now have a high hand bonus and The Shop is kicking in the first $100. The pot will grow every week. The payouts are as follows:

Quads: 10% of the total pot.
Straight Flush: 50% of the total pot.
Royal Flush: 100% of the total pot.

The pot will never be below $100 at any time. All high hand jackpots will be awarded in cash the next night if over $150.

Hi All,

I know some people have been asking for a review of “The Shop”, so here it is…

I have been to the unit 4 times over the past couple of weeks, so this is not just a “fly in, fly out” review…

The Shop is just an overall nice place to play poker. The cental room is one poker table with a constant game of ½ no-limit being dealt through the night – but if there is enough interest in other games, I’m sure they would accomadate the other games also. The staff is friendly and makes their number one goal your enjoyment of the club. For example – they started with Pepsi products to drink, but when they found out I am a diehard Diet Coke drinker they went out and bought some that night, and now keep my glass full all night. The quality of players that I have seen run the gamet from strong to poor. Although, admittedly, the décor is a little worse for wear, I know the managers are looking to improve the look and the amount of room (and tables) in time. With the new high hand bonus, it is now the equivalent to the clubs that I have played in in the Toronto area.

If you have any questions, and want an answer from someone outside of management, I would be glad to reply – if I know the answer.

If I were paying a dollar into a high hand Jackpot I would rather see the high hand of the week get paid the pot like the airport club did. By only having three hands that actually qualify for the jackpots, that may or may not hit once a week or month, a regular player whose being paying into the jackpot pot every day that you are open may see it all go to a first time player who is sitting in the right seat at the right time. Just my two cents.

As the club grows, everything will keep on improving. I'm sure Al is referring to our comfy but That 70's Show-esque chairs when he commented on the decor.

We are buying new chairs in the next two weeks. As players, what are you looking for? Computer chairs? Padded folding? Banquet?

The best club I ever played at had the sweetest computer chairs... all leather, full back, padded armrests, reclining!

We hear you Shopsy. I liked the way the Airport Club did their high hand every week as well. However, Shane had more than one table going when it was open so the jackpot was almost always $1200+/week. The allure of high hand jackpots, at least for me is the dollar value. I always look into high hand jackpot totals when I am chosing a club or casino. A bunch of Toronto clubs use this system and it seems to work well. We have already seen quads twice at the club, a straight flush and a royal. Odds are, people like you, who come out on a regular basis will win the jackpot more often than a newcomer who gets lucky one night.

Also Shopsy, we have been logging player hours and will be having an invite only freeroll for the players who do make the effort to get out most nights and keep the action going.

Feel free to talk me at the club more about this. If it makes our regulars unhappy, we may just have to change it. If you can see the reasoning for it, all the better.

Also, the cash is paid that night if we have it. With player bonuses, ordering food, Tim Hortons runs for players and paying out dealers, we just put the 'if over $150' in the post to cover our skin if somehow a few hundred is paid out in the bonus buy. We have come close to $200 in bonuses in one night.

The Unit has a progressive jackpot right now.
It is at $1300ish. They pay %'s, just like us.

I only play at The Shop though right now. Don't feel like driving 90 minutes in this weather to shoot in a very similar game.

And Brent, thanks for calling me out for no reason...In Vegas, I always considered the HH Jackpot before playing.

We don't keep any money in the club. Buy ins and enough to cover expenses.
Hence why we would be paying it out next day.

Thanks for your two cents though.

Now one day we will have thousands of dollars AND two cents that we need to put in the bank for security purposes. Damn it Shannon, I wish I could bring myself to just round down.
