Comp's week at the WSOP and elsewhere, May 31-June 7

Going to try and document my week in Vegas starting with (and hopefully ending with) the WSOP Big 50. Plan to play day 1C on the Saturday, day 2 on Monday, day 3 on Wednesday, day 4 on Thursday and day 5 FT on the Friday and then fly home on the red eye with fistfuls of $$$..
Just in case this doesn't finish as above I need to make some alternate plans. This thread is where I intend to build that plan and update as I go.

Flying out on Swoop from Hamilton at 7:30 pm on Friday May 31st, arrive 9pm Vegas.

Flying back on Swoop at 10:15 pm on Friday June 7th Vegas time, arrive Hamilton at 5:30 am.

Saturday June 1: 10am WSOP Big 50 day 1C $500. 0% rake, 50m blinds, 50K stack, S of 126

Only issue with this one is if I go real deep I may miss my flight, but so what, good payout would be worth it. Will have to assess what a last minute flight Saturday would cost me vs the payout, may just play cash or a smaller/shorter daily tournament today.

Bolded are where I am leaning at the moment. Subject to change of course.

Tournament package investors:
Business partner Mark - 5% $100.
Business partner Gary - 2% $ 40.
MrCaspan Steve - 5% $100.
Gogie Brian - 5% $100
Folded Cory - 5% $100.
Toronto Pimp Mike - 8% $160.

Sold out, thank you all, now all I have to do is win big..

*** Summary ***
Gogies summary of the net value of this bap as being $11.40 cdn per 1% looks right to me so I have listed below your net amount owing.
Business partner Mark - 5% $100. now owes $57.
Business partner Gary - 2% $ 40. I owe him back $27.20 PAID
MrCaspan Steve - 5% $100. now owes $57. PAID
Gogie Brian - 5% $100 owes me $105. net from his bap PAID
Folded Cory - 5% $100. now owes $57. PAID
Toronto Pimp Mike - 8% $160. now owes $91.20 PAID

All figures above are in cdn and I am fine settling next time I see you, no use wasting transfer fees.

Not sure, wasn't really thinking of it.... but maybe? Other than the wsop not even sure what I will play...

    No one else going??
  • Not till July 4th.
  • Jun 25

Wed is the WSOP weekly seniors
Sun is the weekly WSOP plo
  • Good luck man.
  • Good luck comp!
  • I would not mind backing you 10% in the big 50!! Love the idea of the live blog.. Safe trip!
  • FYI, this is the site I am using to choose potential tournaments.
    https://vegas-poker-schedule.com/list-view/

It's pretty neat in that it has all sorts of filters to narrow it down. This guy put a lot of work into it and is changing as he gets additional info.

I'm figuring if I bomb out of the Big 50 I may play another 1K worth of tournaments before I leave but it will depend on energy level on any particular day. At other times I may just play cash so that I can come and go as I please. Trying to decide which tournaments I am the most plus ev at (if any) is what I am working on up till Friday..

    Any opinions welcome..

Still thinking about this but if I do I would like to make it more variable, ie a whole package. Two of the guys I work with asked me about buying pieces as well. Regardless of whether I do or not I will be posting stuff here, years ago we used to do it on twitter but the forum works well on my phone and with my NA data plan and chargers at tables mostly it makes it feasible to do it this way.

these two look pretty good and I like the Planet Hollywood one on the 7th too but you need to see what the airfare would be last minute.

Willing to buy into any package you would sell .
  • Ok, I think I will sell up to 30% of a $1500. US package. Haven't figured out exactly what I will play other than the Big50 but basically you buy a % of the first $1500 worth of tournaments. Right now the XE converts $1500. US to $2015.85 so I'll round down to 2000 CDN to make it easy 1%=$20 cdn If for some reason I don't play 1500 worth (ie I go all the way in the Big50) and you have payed me, it will be refunded. I will be playing some cash if too tired to play a tournament but it is not included unless someone wants to fund me in the Big Game.. ;)

At the moment I would like to limit to 5% max per person, 1% min. If it is someone I know reasonably well or is vouched for by someone I know well you can pay whenever or hopefully I will just be paying you your winnings minus your % bought.
If it doesn't sell all 30% I will offer the rest to whomever wants it. Please post or pm interest and I will add it to the OP. I will be playing either way even if nothing sells.

All tournament receipts will be posted here, assuming our new programmer doesn't mess up posting of pics. I will also update via my phone as often as possible., remember the 3 hr time difference.

One other thing I forgot, afaik 30% witholding only applies for winnings over 5K so if by some miracle I do go over that in a particular tournament be aware we may not get it back. If we are in the money in any event and we are getting close to the 5K mark in payout level, I will attempt to get it in to go much deeper. ie I don't want to go out with just over a 5K score.
  • In for 5% ....... is my word good or should I drive to Milton ?

Will also buy up whatever is left over if you don’t sell out
  • Just bought into Day 1C of the Big50.

Thank you but you're good, I know where you live and have your confession re an event back in your school days...
  • I'm good for 5% as well Compu! I didn't get a change to get a piece of DNeg so putting it all on you! What's your markup?
  • Jeff, did they charge you anything extra to buy the seat online ? Also, are you able to pick the starting day ? Also just because you have bought the seat you can still show up late and get the full stack ?

Done through Bravo, my Visa was charged $715.62 CDN, this included the fees below plus the exchange. And yes I can show up late, which I won't and get full stack. If for some reason I didn't get there by the end of lvl 2, my credit card would be refunded the entry but not the fees and I could buy into day 1D if I wanted. Essentially it looks like about $18. plus exchange. I only did this online as I was concerned I would get down there and it would be sold out.

    Fees
The payment required for participation in any Tournament event is the full amount of the event's entry fee, which includes an administrative fee to cover necessary Tournament staffing, materials and related administrative costs. There are additional fees applicable to online registration and the chosen method of payment. Additional Fees: There will be a $3 processing fee added to each event transaction for using the online registration system. Credit cards are charged an additional 2.95% fee to use this method of payment. (Fees for American Express are 3.95%) In addition, anyone who uses a wire-transfer or cashier's check are still subject to any fees their bank imposes (the WSOP does not impose any fees). These are typical fees used in the payment processing industry for online transactions of this nature, by the vendors and providers of these services. Participant is responsible for payment of the full registration amount and all applicable fees.
  • Thanks Steve, no markup. Actually considering exchange it's a slight markdown.. lol

    ok... thanks Comp.

Are you thinking of making a last second trip by any chance... You are certainly welcome..

I can’t do 2 trips , not fair to the dog. I was wondering if it was worth it to pre-buy online for the main.....but I think I will just take the cash and do it that way, besides I will need some blackjack money too......

kinda been a lucky week all the way around. First they find my lost luggage in Montreal , then the Casino Host from the Wynn calls and pumps up his comps so he’s giving me the full 7 days plus a nice meal allowance instead of 3 days, then my Raptors bet comes thru.
  • Make it easy
    i will take 15% and Pimp 15%
    done

If Comp wants to sell an extra 2% you and I can do 10% each if he doesn’t I am good doing 9% each........ I am easy with whatever ya’ll want.

Folded ..... you should join us on one of these trips. Wine, pineapple pizza, midget hookers and blow on me.
  • Appreciate the offer both of you. I will give it until Thursday evening and if no one else wants any you can each take 9% or 1/2 each of what is left. In any case you both have a minimum of 5% each.

I echo Mike's comments, it would be a blast with Cory there as well, we might even get in trouble like that night long ago in Hamilton at that game above the bowling alley....
  • Jeff - I'd be interested in 5% of your action if it doesn't upset Folded and Toronto Pimp. I can do an e-transfer to you if you like (I have your email address in my contacts but I'll confirm it with you if you take me up on this). By the way, will you be paying out in $US or $CAD? Either way I can collect from you when I arrive in Vegas. :)

Don't worry about paying ahead, I trust you, lol.. Since you are buying in Canadian but at the US equivalent I will pay out in US or the CDN equivalent, keep in mind the 30% witholding on >$5K..

‘I am good with whatever is leftover but lockup 5% for sure.

do you want to take my betting ticket with you and you can play off the cash instead of paying the exchange. If you break even you just give me back the 3500, if you use some of it we can do a few points less than the banks would charge. Up to you just offering.

If you trust me not to blow it on blow, sure, but I have enough US cash in any case. Would they even allow me to cash it, doesn't it have your name on it?

No names on betting tickets. Anyone can cash them. That’s why I didn’t put the picture with the barcode.

Again in if you need it you are welcome to it. If not I will take it July.

Great, thanks. I’ll take 5% and live vicariously through you until I get boots on the ground on the 6th.

BTW, if it comes down to you having to pay withholding tax that’s a good thing in my view!
