Ownership change & website programming

Do we have any web programmers among us or anyone know someone?

Comments

  • The conestoga web development program is always looking for projects for the students.
  • What are you looking for Comp?
  • I "may" be taking ownership of pokerforum.. And if so will be looking for help to update and "manage" the website..

Jesse told me that the site is php and mysql with the vbulletin backend for most settings. There's some static html pages also.

Out of my league as I am NOT any type of programmer, I do have access to hosting at reasonable prices though.. Don't want this site going under.. Maybe we can make it kinda like a cooperative effort?

Jeff, keep me in the loop as I am looking for someone to program the thing we spoke about at lunch. Maybe we can swing a deal ........

I doubt this thing makes any positive cash flow. But if comp is taking the risk and putting in the work of keeping the site going he can spend it on hookers and blow ! Or hot dogs and bally’s Daily tournament buy ins.
  • lol, or upgrading the midget porn section....

I agree, what I thought he meant is that the regulars can share the risk and any costs for maintaining the site.
  • I can confirm that positive cash flow is not present at the moment, however.... Who know's maybe if I open up the midget porn section up to paying members there would be...>:D

Just my opinion but..... I think 1 Chief and lots of Indians works better that many chiefs.

We all love and trust Comp and know how much work he puts in on our behalf.

Comp, whatever you decide is good with me.
  • Waiting to hear back from Jesse, the current owner. One of my partners who I trust implicitly is going to have a look at the "back-end" and give me an opinion on cost to maintain/host, once we get access, etc.
  • I would get in touch with the owner Tommy of pokerchipforum.com as he can provide lots of guidance on the programming side of PHP.
  • Should be some news coming early next week and it may involve some upgrades around here.. Low budget though.. Suggestions and any assistance will be welcomed. PFC lives on!

Hey Moose can you put me in touch with the appropriate contact there so we can discuss.. It's almost a done deal on the transfer and should be completed by this weekend.
  • It is more for a from scratch web development, POP, inventory management etc. I doubt you can set up a php project. I would hit up Tommy from pcf.
  • Ok, was hoping that they would have some poker player students that would be interested. I can get it done but at a cost. Wonder if Hobbes has any ideas.

Jeff, I am leaning towards using upwork.com for the phpbb programming. Give me a call tues or wed and we can try and get both done as a package deal or at least try and save a few bucks.......
  • We will be (well not me but my expensive web development team:)) trying to move the site again over the next few days so there potentially could be temporary issues during the process. Please be patient and let me know of any new problems. A lot of you know my email which is my first name last name, no periods or numbers at gma!l, so don't hesitate to contact me there. The new management...
  • Ok, it's official, I now own PFC (and all of you). After a mixup over hosting fees ($85) per month we are now back on line... Had no idea how complex this whole process can be. Sorry about today and glad it didn't happen while something important was imminent... nor that it went on any longer.. I will attempt to be a benevolent owner and am considering a partner who at least knows a little about this web stuff and help me recoup maybe some costs. I just couldn't let it die...
  • Thank you for all of your efforts you crusty old bastard.
