Atlantic City

Has anyone been there lately or know anything about the scene? Seems like most casinos have closed their poker rooms and some casinos themselves have closed. I've also read that it can be pretty sketchy late at night.

I know it's been "dying" but is it really that bad? I was considering going this summer.

  • I have been many times but not recently, ie 5 years. Definitely gone downhill. Don't leave the boardwalk area at night except by car/cab. Borgata real nice but the rest are low end. You get 1 block west of the boardwalk it it is definitely sketchy, even then.

  • Never been to AC. However when I was at Parx Casino 2 years ago alot of players were from AC. They would travel to play as there was better action and game selection.

It's also closer to Parx if your looking for a mini vacation.
  • Harrah's and Borgata are nice. Bally's is ok. Harrah's runs a shuttle between the port casinos and the boardwalk casinos. The walk between Harrah's and Borgata is fine. We did that about 1am. We rode a city bus from the boardwalk to Harrah's at 2 am and it was also fine though the characters at that time can be interesting. I wouldn't walk a block off the boardwalk strip though. A/C other than the casinos is really sketchy.
  • Bally's had a few deals I was considering. Not planning on leaving the boardwalk late at night - as long as it's safe during the day.
  • Definitely take the free shuttle from Bally's to Harrah's. Harrah's has the best buffet and the walk to Borgata is fairly easy. Out the convention centre go across the parking lot and pick up the path along the harbour side.
