Paying Admission . . .

Went to Holland for a family vacation and decided to pop into the Amsterdam Casino to pick up a couple 1 Euro chips for the collection. That was, until they informed me it was a FIVE Euro admission fee. Apparently, if you pay the admission three time within 12 months, you get it refunded in chips upon your fourth visit.

Hey folks, come on in her and lose some $$$ . . . but first pay us for the PRIVILEGE of losing that $$$.

Yes, European casinos have a strange business model compared to North America. WPT Valkenburg (Holland) charged for admission, parking and drinks so some gamblers are saved from going in and losing all their money. WSOP-C Spielbank Berlin usually charges for admission and $5 just for pop! WPT Dusk Till Dawn even charges for water! WPT London (Aspers) also charged for drinks, along with WSOP-C Georgia for pop.

A dealer in Europe who saw my Playground cap had heard about its much better customer service and lamented with me, "This is NOT Playground!" :(
  • Yup . . . we loved our trip, but there was definitely some culture shock. Going to a restaurant and ordering a burger, for instance. Here, you would get the burger, and fries at the very least. Over there, you got the burger. You want fries? you order them separately. Even in the higher end restaurants, your entrée order was just that, the entrée. You picked your sides all at extra cost. Very strange to us . . .

You did mean Salad, not Fries...Right!!!
