WPT Fallsview - up to February 24, 2016

WPT Fallsview Poker Classic $5,000 Main Event is scheduled to start on Sunday, February 21 and up to February 24. Hopefully, the hidden 3% staff gratuities will be properly disclosed this year; the fees for the ($4,559 + $141 gratuities + $300 admin) ME is 8.8%.

This thread will be updated as I find out more info, but poker leagues and forum members can now start planning their satellites or vacation days. If the festival will be ten days again like 2015, then the first event will be during Valentine's Day weekend. Member PIRANHA hosted three LEGAL fee-free satellites to the 2015 $1,100 Event and there were overlay prizes given by a poker site, so LMK if you're interested. If you can't make it to any of these fee-free satellites, then I'll see you at the high-rake Bingo satellites at Fallsview starting in November.

Rant:
The poker tours and casinos should be giving earlier notice of tentative dates of recurring events to its customers for planning purposes, such as booking vacation days. When I was planning to play in WPT London in the summer, I could not get basic information from the WPT, casino or partypoker, but finally found it in a travel site. The same thing happened for WPT Fallsview as a supervisor told me it would return some time in February, but it is Main Event Travel (MET) that has the date - https://www.maineventtravel.com/tour_stops/tour_stop/207. I met the owner of MET during WPT UK last year, and it has entered into a partnership with the WPT in June with a new website, so the date is also available @ https://www.wpttravel.com/tour_stops/tour_stop/207.

The Fallsview room has had a nice makeover, including better wallpaper. The board showing the 17 tables is gone. There are now nine huge TV screens high up so both dealers and players were distracted when they're watching the Blue Jays (which are on ALL the screens) instead of paying attention to the poker action.
  • Thanks for WPT Fallsview update...I'm interested in satellites.

    See you Saturday!

    Here you go..

Fallsview Poker Classic on February 16-24, 2016.

    Feb. 16-19: $1,100
    Feb. 19-22: $2,500
Feb. 21-24: $5,000 WPT Main Event

  • Two years ago, while playing the WPT satellites, a dealer told me then the pit boss confirmed that it was forbidden to use my paper and pen in the poker room. :bs: I appealed that idiotic rule to WPT Executive Director Matt Savage, and fortunately, common sense prevailed, and it is no longer illegal to use a pencil, pen or paper. The great news now is that electronic devices, such as headphones and cellphones, are finally allowed at Fallsview. :wav:

You've come a long way, Fallsview!

  • Well I for one am Excited for this, but once the other rooms allow it things will be that much better!
  • Buddy, is this just for the wpt tournament or are they allowed in the poker room going forward.
  • good question! My guess is just the WPT because it is fallsview but I would love to be wrong!
  • It is already effective in the poker room now so it should also apply in the WPT FPC ballroom, but I can confirm this weekend. We were already allowed to use electronic devices last time in the ballroom, but dealers would tell us that we had to STAND even when we're not in the hand.
is this just for the wpt tournament or are they allowed in the poker room going forward.
  • i have to say thats pretty sweet, i hated the fact cellphones couldnt be used.
  • I played $1/2 cash at Casino Niagara last night and saw people wearing headphones/ ear buds etc... This has been effective for one week the dealer told me.
  • I might be able to play the $2500. I'd only have to take off the Friday. It's possible.
  • If you go to the satalites section there is a change this year only one seat per pac card any additional satalite wins will have the cash prize downloaded to your PAC card and entry cards are now also non - transferable
  • I don't follow what you said. So if you win a seat through the super satellite you cannot transfer? And if you win more than one satellite you just receive the cash equivalent and can withdraw at the cashier?
  • WPT Fallsview details posted. Of note, entry cards are non transferable Fallsview Casino Resort, Gaming
  • After debating with the so-called "WPT Fallsview Hotline" and finding out as usual that they know less than what I already knew, I posted on Facebook that you cannot have more than one entry card, including the two super satellites. Your card is non-transferable, must-play, tied to your account but cannot be reissued, and doesn't appear to have any refund possibility. If there is no refund, it would seem that nobody should purchase any entry card, including RFS winners from OAPL, until you are sure that you can play on the specific date and time with six tournaments overlapping over only nine days.

I cannot even buy a super satellite card for the players I will BAP 50% as he has to first make sure he can play on February 18, 3 pm, then have to get to Fallsview himself for the first time. I predict that unlike the previous FPC, none of the six tournaments will sell out before the starting day. :o

While those boycotting/avoiding Fallsview will be disappointed that there are no improvements to structures, events, TDA compliance, etc., if you ask me if it's better than the 2015 status quo, the answer is yes.
So if you win a seat through the super satellite you cannot transfer? And if you win more than one satellite you just receive the cash equivalent and can withdraw at the cashier?
    Yes to both questions.
  • So you can get your money back for the second ticket you get, but not the first? So what if you make Day 3 of the $1100 and already have a seat to the $2500? You can't sell it back?

    Weird.
  • Yeah that seems really....bad. I guess they would be assuming it doesnt sell out/you buy it if you can play it. But...like you said if you win the $2500 seat in december and are in the day 3 of the $1100 in february.. damn.
  • Going to have to work on your multi-tabling skills

  • Can't wait for this. Booked my time off. Not gonna miss it like i did last year and I did with the seneca festival. Hopefully I will have my profile picture sorted once it's over. Me with the winning hand of one of these mtts. Feel it's gonna be K10dd.
  • LOL. Some of the FTP scumbags like Chris Ferguson used players' money to multi-table at the WSOP to chase bracelets. When WPT FPC allocated only 7 days in 2014, I asked if we can use rollerskates to multi-table between the conflicting tables, but the answer was no. :(

  • Honestly blonde what they did was a little dodgy but nobody thought black Friday was actually gonna happen. Lots of banks and companies operate with a balance sheet that is not always "true" and this comes with some experience with private companies. Still what happened in the end was pure criminal.
  • It's been confirmed to me that if you are still in the $1,100 but had made the blunder of buying a $2,500 or $275 entry that now conflict, you will lose out on the non-refundable, non-transferable entries. :(

Another blunder I've seen somebody make already is to buy an entry too early then take physical possession of the plastic card instead of waiting until the day of the event. Unlike the WSOP and all other casinos I know, you could actually lose $5,000 just because you misplace your pre-registered card or it gets stolen. Just like there have been thieves/counterfeiters arrested during previous FPC events including the dramatic police takedown in a final table last year, :o I hope that Fallsview will improve its registration procedure this year to check that every player's entry card number is the same as was registered in the player's Advantage Club account so that thieves cannot use a stolen or found entry card.

Instead of just whining about Ontario casinos without even trying to do something, I'm willing to submit suggestions in writing again if people can post the wording that we should use that non-poker casino executives will understand, instead of the poker essay I tried to start writing.
