Question about pokercharts and satellite tourneys

I'm just wondering how other people would log these in pokercharts?

For example, if you go in the $3 + $.30 satellite for the $30 + $3 at Pacific, and qualify for the tournament. Would you enter this as one session, and then the tourney as another, or wait until the tourney is over and count them all as one for a buy in of $3.30??

What I've been doing so far is counting them as one, since the seat in the larger tourney isn't really money. Plus, it looks like a large negative if you bust out of the big one, whereas it really only cost you $3.30.

Any input? How do others do this?

Thanks in advance...

  • If I busted out of the target tournament, I would count these separately as a win of +$29.70 then a loss of -$33.00 in my record keeping.

Note that the net P/L is the same either way you do it. So if this is the only statistic you're interested in tracking, it doesn't matter which method you use.

Your per tournament variance is measured correctly by counting the wins and losses separately, and is grossly underestimated by netting the two results.
